A/N So this story was written as a challenge/ thank you to Blue Lion for an incredibly helpful review on my previous Azula story. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this, and remember: Reviews are love.
Sokka was a warrior, and a proud one at that. He lived to defend his people from the evil that the Fire Nation wanted to unleash unto the world. If there was one thing he prided himself on, it was his mind. Sokka may crack jokes and act like an idiot but there was something special about his mind that intrigued the person lying next to him. However right now, it was his mind that was preventing the young warrior from sleeping.
He was not sure how it happened. Hell he still isn't sure why it is still happening. All he knows is that it is real and it is happening, and no matter how much he tries to deny his feelings for the girl sleeping peacefully next to him, he knows that the fire he feels when touching her is too good to deny.
He wonders what Aang will think of him. Spirits, what would his sister think of him? It's not like he chose to fall head over heels in love with someone completely opposite of him. He thinks about his father, and his Gram, but most of all he thinks about his mother. Deep down he knows that she would have supported him, because that's what she always did, but his mother is gone. She's gone because of some stupid war and some stupid idea of genocide.
Sokka sighs and rolls over to face the girl that has caused his friends so much pain in the past year. He moves a stray piece of hair out of the sleeping beauty's face. She was absolutely beautiful, with her raven hair and creamy white skin, and when she slept she looked so damn peaceful that it was almost impossible to believe that when she was awake she was a cold, calculating, military machine.
He kisses her on the forehead and pulls her into his arms. It is at this point where Sokka realizes that right now, at this moment, nothing matters. In the morning it will be different. They will go their separate ways, play the part as enemies, and hope to all the Spirits that one day the war will be over and they could be together without having to sneak around.
"I love you, Azula."
