Ash's Betrayal

The ferry to Kanto had just arrived at the port, as aspiring Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum set foot in his native region, Kanto.

"It's nice to be back Pikachu" claimed Ash. "Pika Pika" said Pikachu in agreement. "I can't wait for the surprise party my mom's gonna throw for us".

Ash had just participated in the prestigious Sinnoh League. He had done considerably well, reaching the semi-finals in the first time of his career. He beat formidable opponents such as Nando, Conway and his rival Paul on his way. Unfortunately for him, Ash's semi-final opponent Tobias, had a darkrai and a latios on his team.

This ultimately made Ash's task more difficult and it took most of his pokemon to take out Tobia's Darkrai. His remaining pokemon Pikachu, tied with Latios.

Unbeknownst to Ash, all of his friends had gathered at the Pallet household and were conferring on a matter.

"I don't think Ashy boy is cut out to be a pokemon trainer" exclaimed Gary. "I agree with you there, Gary" said Brock. "Ash solely relies on luck, and he always goes on instincts and not on strategy." "I think he's just an idiot, who thinks he's so great" shouted Misty.

The others nodded in agreement. "There are way better trainers than him" chipped in Max." I can't believe I used to idolise him". Dawn and May looked unsure of the statements, but soon came to the realisation that they were right.

Ash knocked on the door to his home. The door was opened and as Ash was soon enveloped in a tight hug from his mother Delia. "Mom, too tight" gasped Ash as he struggled to breathe. "Sorry, dear", Delia chuckled. "Welcome home".

It was the norm like any other time he returned home. His friends congratulated him on his league ranking and he ate like there was no tomorrow.

During mealtime, Brock suddenly spoke up. "Ash, there is something we need to talk to you about". "Sure what is it Brock" said Ash in a perplexed tone.

"We think you need to reconsider your dreams" stated Brock boldly. "WHAT? Why?" retorted Ash. "Because you suck Ash "said Misty as she stood up from the table. "What do you mean?" said Ash angrily as he slammed the table. "You always lose the league to a better trainer" Max expressed." There are better trainers than you and you won't win."

"Face it Ashy boy, maybe you should consider a more realistic dream." I've become a pokemon researcher and it's much more realistic than achieving a hopeless dream".

"Honey, they are all right." Maybe you should listen to the others." I think it's time you put your dream to rest" assured Delia.

Ash was having none of it and he flipped. "I've travelled with you guys and I've helped you all partially achieve your dreams." "And this is how you repay me". "By trying to shove my dreams down the drain"." I will show all of you, that you were wrong". With those words, Ash ran out of his house towards Professor Oak's Laboratory.

Ash pushed open the door and was met with the face of the professor. "Hi there Ash, my boy", welcome back" he said warmly "What can I do for you?"

"Professor" said Ash looking crestfallen. "I'd like to take all my pokemon away with me." "But why Ash ,my boy?" asked Oak puzzled at this strange request.

Ash quickly explained to him what happened at his house. Oak was outraged. "How dare they tell you to give your dreams?" "You have done exceptionally well for a trainer of your age." "Heck you even took out a darkrai and a latios". "Not many people can say they did that."

Ash was warmed with the praise. "I have a device that will allow you to take all your pokemon with you." "Thank you professor". Ash said curtly. "Take good care Ash and good luck." exclaimed the Professor.

Ash decided to travel to the Unova Region, a newly discovered land where his reputation hadn't reached yet.

"I'm going to prove the others wrong and I'm going to win".
