Maxine Caulfield and Chloe price are intertwined in the back of the latter girls truck. pillows and blankets push them together on either side.
The storm happened, Chloe wanted to leave right after it happened, but Max convinced her to stay. David and Joyce while being thoroughly shaken up and surprised by the storm, survived. Warren and Kate also made it; the size of the storm predicted that there would be more death, but only around 20 people died, while still horrible, it was not as bad as it looked on the hill overlooking the bay.
The homes and businesses of Arcadia bay took most of the force of the storm, Two Whales is almost completely gone; the roof ripped off and a car through the front entrance. Blackwall was the only place not entirely destroyed, the dorms for boys and girls still stand only having broken windows to show the effects of the storm there. The front entrance has a tree lodged through it. Once rescue workers arrived they provided shelter and Necessities for the survivors, Chloe and Max included. though Chloe and Max stayed in the back of Chloe's truck.
The phone call to her parents was emotional, they were crying and thankful that she was okay. They wanted her to come home right away but Max couldn't leave she caused this, she needed to stay. She needed to help.
Tomorrow was going to be the continued search for people, Max hated the job, looking for people from a disaster she caused, she knew this was the universe's way of Vengeance against her inability to sacrifice Chloe.
As if knowing Max was blaming herself, Chloe pulled Max closer to her chest the arm that was already wrapped around her wrapped tighter. Max buried her face in Chloe's neck closed her eyes trying to will herself to sleep.
maybe one day she wouldn't feel this guilty, maybe one day she can convince herself what she did was right.
She pointedly didn't think about the pain she caused Chloe, the pain of being the cause of so Much Death and destruction, the guilt she must be feeling.
As her brain drifted off to sleep the thought that the only way she'll get through this is with Chloe at her side, that helped comfort her.
