Unknown Power
They came at us from all angles
Daring us to have the slightest bit of revenge in our souls
With the small little girl, smirking her devilish grin
While others revel in the glory of the upcoming attack
The three elders touching hands, palms up to one another
Sense no threat as they swiftly glided along the icy ground
With their heads held high
This is all business
As they stalked our every move
In the rhythm of the Sun
Yet the three wise ones did halt their slinking advance
Shock and pure terror crossing all the guard's faces
With the gentle breeze swooshing their long black robes lightly across their ankles
All the sound in that frozen meadow
Was the beating of large hearts
Appearing from the edge of the forest
Stunning waves of heat echoed across the flat clearing
As we all turned to see such a force to stop the law itself
We set our eyes on our supposed enemies…
And yet our allies had joined us
First stepping out from their safe boundaries were two rows of beasts
Circling around what they were to protect
Us
Hunched, lean, backs with massive dipping shoulder blades sticking out from under their fur
Muscle wrapping tightly around their legs as they flexed intimidatingly with unknown power
Muzzles curved over, baring their teeth
Deep, menacing, rumbles of sound coming from their chests
Eyes gleaming with anticipation
Ears flattened against their huge skulls
Paws extending into claws, digging into the soil with rage
Yet another surprise awaits them.
There was a low growl of authority from the shadow of the forest
And with hearts booming a drum beat rhythm
Two huge monsters
Stepped out into the meadow
Obviously being in charge of this army of creatures
All ears went up, all heads snapped into their direction
While we all took in their appearance.
There were gasps of disbelief due north of us
Greater than the rest
These two massive bodies slid out of the underbrush in the most graceful way
One bigger than the other yet still equal
They stood up on their haunches
Clearly showing that they could be taller than the Twin Towers would ever be
Ear splitting howls ripped through the air
As the others followed suit.
Bloodlust took over every portion of my body
As I look back at the bewildered faces of the guard
Air hissing up my throat
My vision clouding with red fury
In synchronism, we all slowly settle into our hunting crouches
Taking in our advantage
As a hint of a smile curves at the corner of my lips
They cannot
Contain
Our Unknown Power…
