All in a Days Work

Jim Hawking yawned ferociously as his quick fingers glide over his lap tops keyboard. Hey had been up all night and day the past two days looking for a job. He'd come up with zip. Nuttin.
"I work way to hard," Jim mumbled, "If only Aniki would get off his lazy butt and do something, then maybe we could get some work done."
'But what are the chances of that' he thought to himself. Jim could picture his older partner now, slumped over the counter at a bar, with about 17 empty beer bottles in front of him. Squinting at the clock on the wall, the blond sighed even deeper. 'It's 2:30 and Gene -still- isn't home!'
As if on cue, Jim heard the clumsy opening of the front door. Jim looked up as his drunken older friend fell into their apartment.
"It's about time Starwind." Jim called wearily
Gene looked up stupidly at Jim and grinned. "Awwww, Jimmy….*hiccup*…..I was just out…havin' a lil bit of fun…ya know……*hiccup*….buddy."
Jim glared at his partner. "Ya know, Aniki, you got a focus a lil more on work. I haven't had any sleep in nearly 2 days, while you're out drinking away what little money we have!"
"Jim…"Gene groaned, "You don't hafta…*hiccup*…yell so loud! I'm gonna get some shuteye. My head hurts like…like…*hiccup*….my head hurts."
With that, Gene stumbled off to his room.
Disgustedly, Jim watched as his friend blindly made his way to his room, and then back to the screen of his laptop. With another exhausted sigh, Jim shut off the little computer. 'I guess I'll be working again tomorrow,' Jim thought,'Me and only me. Funny. I always thought it was Starwind and Hawking, but now it seems to be just…..Hawking.'
