Death was something they both understood. They were friends, bound by the fact that she would never leave alone. They stayed friends, bound by the fact that their humanity was gone.
Hers was taken by her mother. His was taken by his uncle. She watched her mother light herself on fire, with no way to escape the horrid scene. He watched his uncle try to kill him, with no way to stop it but to kill him.
He turned cold, she turned warm. He barely spoke, she never shut up. But both were the same underneath their masks. Both would kill without a second thought, his crushing, hers slicing. He would kill quickly, she would kill slowly. Both loved to hear their victims scream.
Everyone feared him. No one feared her. He was a demon, vicious and ready to kill. She was hyper, loud and seemingly weak. He enjoyed the fear, she enjoyed the underestimation. If they feared him, they left him alone. If they underestimated her, they left her alone.
He could walk through a room, and it would be instantly cleared. She could walk through a crowded room, and never be seen. That's why he was the ninja, and she was the assassin.
He changed, she didn't. He stopped killing, she didn't. He made friends, she didn't. He lost some of the fear surrounding him, hers only grew.
Soon, she was the feared one. She was the Glass Witch, the assassin that had a million faces. The one who killed by completely slicing her targets apart. She was also a torture specialist.
Soon, he was the underestimated one. He was the Kazekage, the leader that had a near endless patience. The one who only kill enemies attacking his village. He was also a accomplished killer.
Death was something they both understood. They were friends, though his humanity was returned to him. They were friends, as he brought her humanity back to her.
