The coast of cinnabar Island, 6:00 PM
The trainer was hunched awkwardly against a rock, Super rod in hand.
He had been like this for almost three hours, waiting for a bite, waiting to catch something, anything, to show off back home… like a seadra… or, if luck favored him, a gorebyss… But he was so tired…
His grip on the hi-tech rod weakened and he drifted into a dreamless sleep.
He was abruptly awakened by a loud splash.
The creature that he saw before him made him rub his eyes, unsure of whether this was a dream or not.
It slowly rose from the edge of the water, revealing more and more of it's hideous body. It was the shape of an inverted L, and was covered from top to bottom with tiny squares that varied in colour from pinkish white to grey. Its mass was seemingly two dimensional, and it carried a purple aura around it.
Still slightly dazed, he began to wonder whether this was one of those convoluted Unova Pokémon, or if this was a pokemon at all.
The anomaly levitated higher and higher, and emitted an ear grating screech, a cry akin to a bird Pokémon he had seen in the nearby power plant recently… Zapdos? Hurriedly, he pulled his pokedex out of his bag, and pointed it towards the two-dimensional entity.
"Rhydon, the drill Pokémon. Its horn gives it…"
Puzzled, he reset the pokedex and pointed it at the being again, only to hear the pokedex drawl the entry for rhydon again in its tinny, monotonous voice. The anomaly now seemed to be slightly annoyed, and drifted towards the trainer ominously.
The trainer reached for his belt ,pulled out a great ball, and threw it. He had to catch this Pokémon, but first, He had to weaken it.
The ball exploded in a flash of sparks and light. It dissipated to reveal the trainer's prized possession, His Swampert, which he had brought all the way from the sight of this powerful blue axolotl, the ghostlike creature seemed to hesitate.
"Swampert, use Mud Shot!"
The Swampert opened it's massive cavern-like mouth and spat basketball-sized globs of mud directly at the entity in quick succession. However, each of these projectiles were shrugged off. Evidently angered, it swooped down towards the Swampert.
