Drowned Fire

Prologue

(I do not own Maleficent or characters from OUAT, but I do own my OC's and the idea for this story.)

The dining hall glistened with the candle light from the chandelier from above. The large windows to the left showed that it was sunset, the hue from the sun reflected onto the sky in a purple and a blood orange haze. It reflected in the room, and a fire was set in the fire place in the back behind the large dining table. It set the mood oddly enough. A servant came in and set the food on the table. In the center was a large platters of different foods. In the middle was a roasted swan.

Saya's eyes glinted towards the swan in hunger, yet did not move to grab a plate of it's tasty flesh. She sat in the chair nearest to the window, feeling the warm light pour through, creating a green house effect. The mountains in the distance mirrored the suns light, creating blue and orange waves on the snow covered heap.

She wondered how she had gotten this far; sitting here, eating a five star meal, clothed in finely crafted dresses and jewelry. For it was only two months ago that she wanted to slay the women in front of her, to take all of her belongings and high tailing out.

The woman's eyes flicked over her and noticed that she was distracted, "Is there something wrong?" She asked, her voice smooth and seductive with out her even trying. Saya's attention averted to the blonde in front of her; her words finally registered.

"No, nothing is wrong. Just thinking, is all." Saya replied evenly.

"Do you mind my asking what it is you're thinking about?" Maleficent's curiosity did sometimes get the better of her. Though, it was none of her business; Maleficent and Saya have gotten close enough to the point where it didn't bother her.

She nodded before she answered, "I was thinking about when I first got here." The blonde nodded, also thought back to that point as well. She smiled, her blue eyes sparkling from the light behind Saya. She looked at Maleficent's eyes in awe at the way her eyes reflected the light. It was beautiful to say the least.

Saya's stare directed itself at the food set out in front of them. The roasted swan was appetizing and she couldn't help but feel hungry again. The servant in the corner of the room moved forward, sensing that Saya wanted to eat. The servant, Eduardo, gathered the roasted swan, then sided it with the veriest vegetables found in the region. He then set down the plate in front of Saya.

"Enjoy, Milady."

"I will, thank you." He went over to plate Maleficent, then took his leave.

After eating, Saya stood up and pushed her chair in, Maleficent followed her actions. Saya went over to the window and rested her elbows on the edge of the pane. Maleficent walked behind her and stood quietly. Saya's eyes traced the outlines of the mountains outside the fortress. The sun was going down and the sky was fading into a dark blue. The waning moon was out forcing light through the windows. In a few minutes, the sun was gone and night finally settled in.

"Do you remember what I was like, when I first met you?" Saya's voice broke the calming silence.
