A girl stood underneath the pouring rain as her face was lifted towards the sky to catch the tiny droplets of water. Her chocolate hair was soaked from the pouring rain as her uniform clung tightly unto her body. Thoughts that had once haunted her seemed to disappear just by standing beneath the rain. All the worries had gone. All the confusion that she had felt was no longer present. All that there was, was an empty mind and an empty heart.
The girl stretched out her arms, imagining herself flying away from the people whom she had been with.
She felt peace within her.
Opening her eyes to reveal chocolate orbs, the girl turned around to the music box that was left isolated beneath the only shelter available. She walked towards it and pressed Play. Hearing the music come out, she felt all the nerves in her body that were once tense, free. Letting the music travel through her veins felt like sanctuary.
She felt free.
Every step she made resulted water to splash around her.
Her body gracefully moving along with the music and her mind freed from any worried thoughts.
She didn't even notice another figure watching her.
As the music came to an end, her movement also slowed down.
With a smile on her face, she stopped all her movement. Feeling a small shiver around her body, she had almost forgotten that she was beneath the rain.
She then felt someone place something on her shoulders.
"Ah…"
"You should really take care of yourself, you can get sick you know." A voice from behind said.
She held the jacket as she looked back only to find Kaoru smiling at her.
"A – arigato… but why are you here?"
"I could ask you the same thing, Haruhi." The smile on Kaoru's face seemed peaceful unlike the smiles he held whenever he and Hikaru would be together.
Thump.
Haruhi's eyes widened as she felt something in her chest.
What is this?
"You know, Haruhi… when the person that you love the most is getting herself into trouble… you feel troubled too." Kaoru said slowly.
Thump.
Haruhi looked at him, "Why do you love? Doesn't it hurt?"
Kaoru let out a chuckle as he enveloped Haruhi in a warm hug.
"I love because… it's the closest thing we humans have to magic."
Haruhi's hands were on Kaoru's chest as she felt the beating of his heart.
It felt warm.
Being in his arms felt warm.
Being hugged by Kaoru seemed warm.
Those words he said made her whole body feel warm.
She doesn't know what this feeling is but…
She loves it.
