Needed

So this is my first fanfic and I'm so happy to write it because it's been on my mind (the idea) and now I can do something with it. I'm going to start with one chapter and if you like it I will work on another. =

Ty Borden was a troublemaker, he dropped out of school in his Freshman year, and often went out with some of his older friends to cause mischief. He had a fake ID to get him a 6-pack whenever he felt like one, and he often went to the bar and went back to a random girls place only to make love and never call again. That's just who he was. He didn't like seeing women get hurt abusively like his mother was from his stepfather. He just never felt a connection to anyone of them, or at least not a more than one night stand connection. He was hiding his hurt by making love and never calling again. And his handsome features only helped his quest, girls seemed to always be turned on by just looking at him and he never had to try to make them want to talk to him. His longish brown hair fell across his face perfectly, and his bright emerald green eyes caught the girls attention real quick.

It wasn't like the girls he made love with with weren't hot, because they were by his standards, its just they weren't his type. They were either too demanding, too condescending, or too quite and seemed to not be able to defend themselves. He was pretty sure that the girl he wanted, no needed didn't exist. Until he met Keri Ann in one of his group homes, she was like him needing someone to help ease the pain of her own. And they made a great couple, but unknown to Ty she was a con artist. She lied about her past, and her feelings for him, causing him more pain then he started with. So after she blew up in his face he and his old buddy Joe went to rob a brewery, maybe Ty wanted the beer to forget the failed relationship he had with her, or maybe he wanted to make trouble. As he he and Joe were breaking in they were caught and Ty's fate was about to be determined, six hundred miles away a fifthteen year old girl named Amy's fate was also being determined, her mom had went to rescue a horse from an abusive owner in a bad storm, and as they were driving away things took a turn for the worst.

The truck and trailer slid off the road and they were headed to their death it seemed. Marion Bartlett had a secret, a big one at that, she had decided to have a boy on probation finish it by working on her father's ranch, and he was coming in three weeks, she took that secret to her grave, but her secret would be revealed in a few weeks. Amy woke up in her hospital bed to she her older sister who lived in New York standing before her, her head hurt, and she wondered where her mom was, and when her sister told her she felt a whole new wave of pain wash over her. A wave of grief. A few weeks later. Amy was mad she put her horse into a full gallop to chase the old blue GMC, and its driver. She was mad and was going to make him pay for what he did, spooking her and her best friend Jen's horses like that.

Ty was laughing at the girls he startled as he drove down the road to the Heartland he got out of his truck to breathe the fresh air he heard a noise like thunder, but the sky was clear. When he realized it was the girl on the horse he spooked he felt a wave of dread wash over him. After calling him an idiot, and him smacking right back at her, and asking for a Marion someone, he saw something overcome her face for a brief second a look of pain, that was quickly replaced by her hard poker face, as she said that Marion was her mother and she died three weeks ago. Ty instantly felt horrible for everything he said to her. Then he looked her over to see her weaknesses, and that's when he realized she was very pretty, and unlike the girls he meet at the bar she was naturally pretty. He quickly told himself that he was crazy for thinking she was pretty, and that she was probably a total jerk in general. But he couldn't help feeling sorry for her, something he was sure she wouldn't want him to be. And he felt guilty for being mean to her.

He then met his boss Jack, Amy's grandfather, he was tough, and he didn't seem to be the type to put up with Ty's crap. At dinner he met Lou, Amy's older sister, she had her grandfather's no crap attitude. That night he played the guitar he won from a card game, from a guy who knifed his old man. As he was playing below the loft (his room) he heard footsteps as Amy walked in the barn to talk to the horses, especially the one that was in her accident, she stopped when she heard his playing and looked for the source of the enchanting strumming. Ty and her talked, she left upset at him, leaving him wondering if he was to harsh on her again. And although she was nothing like the girls back home he felt something when he was near her, but he thought that they could and wouldn't ever work out, and he thought nothing else about was mad at Ty, how dare he tell her what to do, especially about horses. She let her mind wander and thought he was kind of hot, but there was no way she was like the hot city girls guys like him like. And besides she had a boyfriend that she liked a lot, Jesse Stanton.

Ty had just seen the most magical thing ever Amy had gotten the crazy horse Spartan, to join up with her, and now she was putting a saddle upon his back, to attempt to ride him. Amy couldn't believe the horse had joined up to her, it was the first time she was working with a horse since her mom died. Grandpa was right she and this horse had a lot in common. When she saddled him and was mounting him she felt a pang of guilt that she survived the crash and her mom didn't, and she told her mom about Spartan's condition. She was the reason her mom was dead, and she couldn't ride Spartan, the reminder of what she did. It hurt too much. Ty saw Amy out of the corner of his eye mount Spartan as to ride him, but then she froze and stepped down, and took the saddle off him and walk him into the barn. He knew it wasn't the horse that wasn't ready to be ridden, it was her, she wasn't ready to ride him, too painful for her he guessed.

That night Amy's friend and a boy came by and told her about a party they were having and invited her to go, she declined at first but Grandpa nudged her on, knowing she needed to have fun. Ty saw her leave she changed clothes and looked great, and he wondered who the guy was she went with, and if she was the third wheel. He asked Jack when quitting time was so he could go to this party. When Ty arrived he saw Amy's friend, Amy, and the guy all together, but the guy looked drunk, and Amy didn't look to pleased. He was greeted by Ashley Stanton who told him the guy was Amy's boyfriend, and her brother. She and Ty talked, Ty thought she was hot, but he wasn't allowed to have one night stands anymore living with a curfew. Also he thought she was a rich, spoiled brat, her heart wasn't as pure as Amy's, or as loving. He suddenly got very warm thinking about Amy, he knew she had a boyfriend, and that he probably would never have a chance with her, but he wanted to impress her.

So when Jesse tried grabbing her and she yelled at him to stop he stepped in and punched him in the face, Amy wasn't pleased and let him know it. Amy was so mad, she had to walk home thanks to Jesse's irresponsibility, Amy didn't drink because her dad was an alcoholic, and she didn't want to be like him. Ty had to find Amy, she would freeze out there walking home alone in the cold, and a bad snowstorm was on its way. Amy ignored Ty until he apologized, she realized she was single now that she and Jessie ended things, and she softened up to Ty, maybe he wasn't so bad, and even though the heater didn't work, they were both really warm on the way home.

Ty felt a warmth enter his truck as soon as Amy stepped inside it, he knew his heater was broken, so it had to be his attraction to Amy and his hormones causing it. He thought it was just him that felt this way, until Amy asked him to turn down his heater. Ty knew they weren't ready to admit their feelings, well he wasn't ready to, and he didn't want to hurt her more then she was already hurting from her mom's death. He always seemed to hurt his hook-ups. But he had never felt this way about one of them before, he didn't want Amy to be just another hook-up, because she was the perfect girl for him, and he was going to clean his actions up for her. She was exactly what he wanted. Amy thought Ty's truck was burning it was so hot, and when she asked for him to turn the heater down he just smiled, was he trying to melt her? She was glad to get home and get out of his truck into the crisp, cool air. She realized that she liked him a lot, but maybe they should just be friends. It would work out the best for them, and she shoved her feelings aside, besides she couldn't compare to the hot city girls he was used to.
