Day 2. Team / Family
The day was very sunny. Weller thanked him for that summer morning when he saw his wife descend to the living area with her two sons in her arms. They had moved a short time ago, but there was always some setback that prevented their friends and brothers from getting to know their home. But now it was all right. His wife was in a dark blue bathing suit and her children had pieces of beach that blended between red and dark blue.
"Hey, why am I the only one not matching here?" He said at once that the three loves of his life came close.
Jane laughed at his remark and Nikki countered.
"Dad, go get your outfit." The black haired girl said.
He smiled at his daughter.
Jane sat the two children in the sun chair by the pool and passed sunscreen on herself, teaching her children to pass on themselves. Lucca helped Nikki and they joked with the product under the proud looks of their parents.
A car beeped in front of the house. A known beep.
"Tasha!" Jane said looking at Kurt.
"I will answer." He said and then he was gone, but not without first passing by his son and running his hand over his head playing with his dark hair.
Soon Jane listened, then saw Tasha's voice with Roman. Patterson was also with Frank, his current boyfriend.
"Uncle Roman!" Lucca said and ran to Roman.
The boy's uncle grabbed him with enormous force and soon after they began to play with each other.
Weller returned a few minutes later with a dark blue shirt and red shorts, which made Jane laugh at the conversation a few minutes ago.
Everyone was settled. Tasha, Jane and Patterson were on the edge of the pool talking about the house and Kurt was talking to Frank and Roman about the barbecue he was preparing.
A new beep was heard, but Tasha got up to answer even though she was not in her own house. She joked about how her best friend and Sarah were late. Everyone laughed.
They soon joined the crew.
A few minutes later, when Weller was concentrating only on his barbecue, he felt those arms that had the best embrace surrounding him. She kissed his shoulder as she always did and he then turned to look at her. He stole a quick kiss from her lips. It was a habit they both thanked for not having died despite their six-year marriage.
"Look at this." She said and looked around.
His children played in the pool with everyone, and they all looked happy. God, he thought he'd never have such a life. A comfortable backyard, children and everyone he loved around him happy and safe.
He held her tight. He knew she was the one who had given all this to him again, and he knew she felt the same way. They were both lucky, and they both knew it.
"I could not ask for more." He said as he looked at her and she smiled maliciously.
"I know not, but we'll still have more." She said as she placed his hand on her belly.
He was paralyzed for a few seconds, not believing what she had just insinuated.
"Oh really?" He said changing his confused face into a huge smile. "I mean, how long have you known?"
"Last night."
He hugged her and lifted her, spinning without thinking of everything around him.
"You always prove to me that I can be happier than I already am." She continued and soon after they kissed.
"So …" He said raising his eyebrow suggestively at her.
They were both thinking the same thing.
"I think it's a great time to share not only the new home with our friends, but this new life."
He smiled and took her hands, going towards his friends to share not only his new home but the new life that would be between them. Life he had not asked for, but that was better than any prayer he'd ever done before.
