Late one night, John is chatting with his sister when she tells him the rumors about the Bird man who is looking for Grandpa English. John struggles to find out a reason why anyone would want his kind, caring guardian, but is it really Grandpa that the man wants? Rated M for possible yaoi in the later chapters. (Sorry I'm terrible at summaries)

A single flame burned unreliably in the rainy night, wavering and spluttering alone in the darkness. The barely tangible figure of a man crouched beside the glow, casting long shadows on the surrounding oaks. A feather, illuminated in the orange light, drifted to the ground as the mysterious man whispered to himself. It was the faintest of sounds, barely audible to even the orange bird-like figure by his knees. Only the man knew what words had been spoken, and what his next destination was.

"Rainbow Falls, Washington," the man had said, a pair of pointed shades glinting in the firelight. He'd arrive there by morning. Gathering up the small avian, the man brought his boot down on the fire, extinguishing the flame. Silently, he walked away from the small clearing and started on his way to The Evergreen State.
