Author's Note: Okay, so it's a spin on Ocarina of Time… on 9-9-09 at 9:09 I had English class, so our assignment was to write a story about time travel, what better to write about than the hero of time? I'd been reading up on some Eragon lately, and had read a bit where he is supposed to speak his name to the Rock of Kuthian and the gates will open… So I mixed that idea with Ocarina of Time and got this. Enjoy!

Link: I has a rock…

Eragon: No! That are my rock!

The hero glanced impatiently at the huge gates before him. Was he too late? Not possible, he thought. Just before dawn he had saddled up his horse and rode to this place. The words of the sages rang in his mind, on the ninth day, of the third season, stand in front of The Doors of Time, at nine minutes past the ninth hour, speak your name to the doors, they shall open for you and you will be returned to your time*. The hero absently loosed his sword in its scabbard, quickly letting it fall back into place.

He took a deep breath, picking annoyedly at his now-faded green tunic. The Sages had also said there would be a sign, something impossible to miss to show him the time was right. As if answering his thoughts, the sun broke through the cloud cover and bathed the crest the gates were placed in in light. The way the sun hit the doors, they shone with great brilliance; the sun's rays weaved intricate patterns along the surface. The doors seemed to glow with a strong energy. This is it, he thought. He stepped forward and whispered his name, so low it was barely audible, but he knew the doors would hear. They swung outwards toward him, surprisingly silent on their ancient hinges. Grasping his horse's reins in one hand, he stepped towards the opening the doors had left, but his foot hovered in air for several moments. He turned around and looked back at the land he had saved, the same, and yet so different, from the land he knew. He pondered how this future had changed the past. He turned back towards the doorway and entered, to return home.

I hoped you liked that! Okay, so let's pretend that September 1st is the beginning of Fall, hence, the third season. And also pretend that they use minutes and hours in Hyrule, because if you think about it logically they really shouldn't…

* That phrase is nowhere near poetic or formal enough to be used by the sages... Meh.
