AN: So, I put a bunch of names from a bunch of fandoms into a mug, and this is what I pulled out. Happy hunting!
Steve Rogers was walking with Bucky, talking animatedly. He was trying to make Bucky understand why he wanted to join the army. He was so focused on this conversation that he didn't pay any mind to the other occupants of the sidewalk, until he bumped into one of them.
She was taller than him, with bouncy golden curls and grey-green eyes. And oddly enough, she was wearing trousers. He jostled her hard enough that she stumbled, and likely would've fallen had Bucky not reached over and steadied her.
"I'm so sorry about that ma'am! Are you alright?" Steve asked.
She smiled flirtatiously. "No harm done."
Bucky opens his mouth to ask a question, but she answers before he has a chance to ask. "River Song. Nice meeting you both, but I really must be off now."
The next time, she bumps into him. It is more than seventy years later, but less than two years in his memory.
"Sorry," she murmurs with an apologetic smile before continuing on her way.
Steve spins around. "Wait!" He shouts. She keeps on walking. "Wait! River Song!"
She turns around and walks back. "What's your name, and how do you know mine?"
"Steve Rogers. We met. Seventy years ago."
"Oh! You're Captain America! I see now."
His brow furrowed. "How do you know that, and how are you here now?"
River winks at him. "I cheated. Now I really must be going. Nice meeting you." She turns and starts walking away, pressing buttons on an odd contraption that's attached to her wrist.
"Wait!" Steve leaps forward and catches her wrist, his fingers brushing the strange wristwatch. Reality twists and convulses around him, and then he's somewhere else. The only thing that hasn't changed is River Song and her wristwatch.
