The air smells like crap, the water tastes like shit and the world looks like hell. I am one of the survivors of the post-apocalyptic world.

Uh, where am I?

I open my eyes and I see a man. He looks like he's in his late 50's, wearing a vault 21 baseball hat, a plain black T-shirt with a bullet proof vest, black jeans, and dark blue sandals.

"Oh, so you're finally awake." He says.

I clear my throat. "Who are you and where am I?

"My name is Paul and you're in Greenville, one of the safest towns in New Mexico."

"Why am I here?"

"Oh, you don't remember." Paul says, as if remembering. "Well you did sustain injuries to the head."

"What!"

In shock, my hands move quickly to my head and brush though my buzz haircut. "OUCH!"

Paul moves closer to me with a worried face. "Be careful or you'll reopen your wound!"

With surprise I ask "Wound?"

"Yeah. When I found you not far from Greenville you were lying on the ground barely alive with a bullet in your head."

"Bullet in my head?" I parrot.

With a surprised look Paul says "can't you remember anything about what happened that caused you to take a bullet to your head?"

"No. All I can remember is…"

I pause in thought,

"…LUCY!"

With a confused look on Paul's face he says "Lucy?"

"I gotta go!"

With all of my energy I rise to my feet and run to the door.

"WAIT! You need new clothes. Here."

Paul walks up to me and hands me a vault 21 jumpsuit.

"Thanks, Paul."

With a smile Paul says "Just take care of yourself. If you need any medical supplies, don't be afraid to ask."

"Actually, I do need some stimpaks."

Paul laughs and walks to a table. Grabbing five stimpaks, he hands them to me.

"Here you go."

"Thanks." I reply.

Before I open the door, Paul puts a hand on my shoulder and says "Wait. I notice you don't have a pip-boy. Here."

Paul pulls a pip-boy 4000 out of his pocket and hands it to me and I gladly accept it.

"Wow, a pip-boy 4000! Vault-Tec hasn't made too many yet! Most people still have pip-boy 3000."

Paul smiles and says "My dad gave it to me when I still lived in the vault, but since I no longer live there I don't need it."

I smile.

"Thank you for your kindness, Paul. Goodbye."

I walk out the door feeling like it was my first time outside in the wasteland, feeling blind for a few seconds.
