Someone Said Goodbye

By Any Unborn Child

Is there a reason
why a broken heart begins to cry?
Is there a reason
you were lost although you don't know why?
Give me a reason
why you never want to say goodbye.
If there's a reason
I don't know why.
I don't know why.
I don't know why.
I don't know why.

Chii…

Fai had always regarded Chii as someone special in his life.

Someone special in his heart.

She was always there when he needed her.

He had done his best to be there when she needed him in turn.

She acted as his guardian angel, her wings protecting him from both the figurative and literal dangers of the worlds beyond; she was watching over him wherever he went.

She was the one whispering words of encouragement in his ear, the coolness of her breath wafting past his ears as she said them. Her coolness, her stability was a reminder that she was there, in both presence and remembrance.

For the longest time, she had been by his side.

Helping him.

Keeping him.

Tending to him.

Loving him.

The pangs in his heart could not be avoided though.

His heart had been broken.

It had been broken a long time ago.

He had worn his glass tears against his person, as if they were charms on a necklace he was supposed to wear for all eternity.

Chii had helped repaired it.

Chii had helped repair his heart.

But…

Where was she now?

It had been so long since they had seen each other last, including the time where he had seen her (likeness) in one of the worlds he and his companions had visited.

She looked so much like her. Their personalities were similar…

But they were not the same person.

No…

No they were not.

Neither were Chii and…and his mother.

They were alike…but they were not the same.

No…

No they were not.

He had said goodbye to one.

But not the other.

Where were they now?

Would he ever see them again?

Only time would tell.

As time ever could.
