"Hey," Connor said quietly, placing a hand on M'Gann's shoulder. "We'll find La'gaan. And we'll make Kaldur pay for what he did to Artemis."
With the mention of her name, a fresh wave of tears rolled down her cheeks. "I-I can't believe she's gone. Poor Wally. Can you imagine…?"
Yes. The truth was he could. He'd lost the woman he loved. She wasn't dead but she wasn't his M'Gann anymore either. His M'Gann was gone. And he missed her so. But he spoke none of this. Instead, he sat down next to her and put an arm around her shoulders.
She leaned into his touch and for a moment, his heart ached at the familiarity. "Things are never going to be the same again, are they?"
He looked into her eyes and for a brief moment he saw his M'Gann, the young Martian girl whom he had fallen in love with. Then, as quick as it was there, it was gone. Sighing, he replied, "No. They won't." And with that, he left, his heart breaking a little more.
