Hello, great people! This fic uses the song Field of Innocence by Evanescence. Yami has to leave Yugi, and sees memories in the shadows. (I never saw the episodes, except the first one of the Egyptian Arc, so don't get mad at me!) Now, on with the story!

Yami's POV
This can't happen. Why? Why must I leave my friends? Yugi needs me for protection. Don't let me leave his side.
I still remember the world
From the eyes of a child.
Slowly those feelings are clouded
By what I know now.
Show yourself, whoever you are! Stop showing me these memories. I can't bare them any longer. Please, let me stay with Yugi. He needs me.

Normal POV
Yami looked around for the person showing him the memories of his past. Yugi stood opposite of him, but the Pharaoh couldn't see him. Shadows surrounded them both, a black mist flowing through the blackness.
I still remember the sun
Always warm on my back.
Somehow it seems colder now.
Yugi's POV
"Pharaoh?" I called, looking around for my dark half. "Where are you?" I saw just a few moments ago, but then he disappeared. I held myself tightly, as I searched for my friend.
Normal POV
Suddenly, a cloaked figure appeared before them both, hieroglyphics glowing on his billowing cloak, and on half of his black face. Only his eyes shone through the darkness.

Yami's POV
"Are you the one who is showing me my past?" I asked the stranger, who looked over at me. Suddenly, black smoke rose up from the ground, and a large scythe appeared in his hand, as the figure grinned mercilessly. He then began to say something I couldn't understand.
Iesu, Rex admirabilis
Et triumphator nobilis,
Dulcedo ineffabilis,
Totus desiderabilis.
What was this magic? Something I can't understand. Yugi, where are you? I'm sure your need me. The scythe was slowly beginning to rise, the stranger beginning to laugh. Yugi, help me…

Normal POV
The figure laughed as something that Yugi couldn't see. A long scythe was rising into the air. The writing on the stranger's face was glowing a brighter yellow.
"Someone help me! Yugi!" cried a voice, one that Yugi recognized.
"Pharaoh!" he yelled, running up to the sound. Yami appeared suddenly, as did Yugi to him.
Yami's POV
Can it be? No, my mind must be playing tricks on me. I reached up to touch the illusion's face. It was real.

Normal POV
Yugi and Yami held each other closely, as the figure's scythe fell rapidly. Yugi moved out of the way of the gleaming blade, as Yami took the impact.
"Pharaoh!" Yugi cried, as blood spilled out onto the violet floor. The boy ran up to the Pharaoh, holding him closely.
"Yugi…" Yami whispered, stroking his hair. "I'm always with you. Goodbye my koi."
