The Pillar of that World
There is no-one that selfless.
No-one
who cannot look in
amongst themselves.
No-one
who can live
forever deaf and blind.
No-one
who can breathe on
in stone
Because stone could also fall
with age and the winds of time
passing by
And the whispers carried
would always brush
the soul
and bring it back to life…
Even if the dead and gone
stood tall, it would not last:
they would fall
But what gave a will its life
was that selfish thing
that tipped the world
into disrepute.
There could never be a pillar
that stood forever
because
It is impossible;
There is no-one that selfless.
