SSSOOO, it's kinda been forever in a year since I've done ANYTHING on here. I seriously just cannot write anymore. But here's a little sumtin sumtin to maybe keep going if I get sufficient ideas?

It was a stare down.

Emerald green locked, with the honey eyes of her mentor; unfazed even with the large audience accumulated behind her, scrutinizing her every move, she could just feel their eyes.

"No."

"You don't have a choice to decline." Tsunade said evenly, eyes patiently trained on her graduated apprentice.

"Oh, I think I do." Sakura replied dryly.

"This is a mission and as a shinobi of Konoha let alone my god damn apprentice, you are expected to go along with these sort of things."

"Find. Someone. Else." She bit out, having to fist her hands that rested on her shisou's desk to at least try to keep the soft tremors from being noticed.

"And just who do you suggest?" Sakura drew back, coming up empty. "Exactly, whether you like it or not you are the only one who I would trust with this Sakura, you're the only one who has the backbone to do it and I will not be sending a pack of half-whit trainees who like to play doctor to deal with this new treaty." Sakura threw up her hands, giving a very unlady like frusterated screech, her hands coming down hard on Tsunade's desk.

"Why the hell do they even need a medic?" She yelled. "They've come back from the fucking dead perfectly fine already there's not much more that I can do. Or do you just want me to keep an eye on them? What in the hell makes you think that I can hold my own against the fucking Akatsuki all at once?"

"Sakura - "

"You might as well just send Naruto with me; you seem to trust them enough now even though they've tried so fucking hard to kill Naruto and came just a hair from killing off Gaara! Have you gone insane Tsunade!?" Tsunade sighed once again catching herself wondering just why the hell she agreed to this Hokage business in the first place.

Tsunade stood. "Sakura, I know you don't trust them, and, honestly, I don't either. But we signed a treaty. If the Akatsuki so much as look in the wrong direction I will not hesitate to send every breathing shinobi in the village after them. They are aware of this."

"So you think that just makes this okay?" Sakura snapped, arms crossed over her chest. "Do you think – "

"They know where Sasuke is." Sakura stopped. Staring at the Hokage with hard eyes, jaw locked.

"What?" she whispered.

"Look, that bratty kid could fall off a cliff for all I care, but that idiot teammate of yours won't let him go as easily, and with all that boy has done for Konoha, the world, I owe it to him to try." Sakura was silent for a few moments, warm tears prickling at the corner of her eyes despite her best efforts to keep them at bay.

"Only because I owe him too." Tsunade gave a genuine smile, placing a strong hand on her apprentice's shoulder and turning her to face her newest assignment.

"Haruno Sakura, I'd like to formally introduce you to the Akatsuki."
