God's Thumbnail
"Nina! Come on! It's time for your birthday party!" her mother exclaimed, looking at her watch. Today was Nina's 6th birthday. Nina was looking at the moon that had just begun to appear even though it was still daytime.
"Nina! Come on!" her mother called, as she jingled her keys impatiently. Nina took one last look at the moon, straightened her pink dress her mother had picked out, and got into the car. They were having her birthday party at a ice skating place.
After the birthday party
"Mom," Nina whispered. "Are you awake?" Her mother opened her eyes. "Yes honey. What is it?" Teresa, Nina's mom, asked. "Do you know how we know God is watching over us?" Nina asked, looking at the bright moon.
"How?" Teresa asked. She was curious about how Nina would respond. She always had methods people had never really thought about. "The moon," she said. "The moon?" asked her mother. "Yes, the moon is God's Thumbnail," Nina yawned. "I'm tired," she continued, eyes half closed.
Nina was soon asleep. Soon, her mother was almost sleeping again. Before she closed her eyes, though, she whispered,"Thank you for sending your thumbnail to shine brightly for us at night."
