AN: So, I've been gone a really long time and I just want to tell you why.

I have had possibly the worst writer's block I've ever had in my life, to the point where I may have to let people adopt several of my stories if I cannot get inspiration soon. I have been writing this one for a while and managed to have a burst of inspiration in relation to it so I was able to write it. I think it will be a good story and I'll be able to write this one.

I also have partial chapters for Armageddon (Mortal Instruments x Black Butler) as well as a partial for my rewrite. This is all in addition to the partial chapters I have for a bunch of ideas. In reference to Armageddon, I am rethinking some of how I wrote it and the plot, but I will be continuing it. My other stories will be ON HIATUS, unless I recover the inspiration for them.

If you all are interested, I will possibly put story ideas I will not be have time to complete (ever; that is, if I want to finish any story) up on the site so you all can read the opening chapter and see if you would like to adopt them. I would just put them all in one "story" and each chapter would be the first chapter of a possible idea. I have more ideas than I could hope to have time to write, so I would be immensely grateful if you all were interested in adopting one or more of those ideas.

This will also be posted on my profile so all can see it.

Anyways, review, let me know what you think about this story. Hope you enjoy it. FallenSHIN0BI out.

Chapter 1: Return Of A Legend

The date has been lost to history. After over seventy years of peace, the tranquil world created in the wake of Lelouch the Demon's death collapsed. The last of those who remembered his terrible deeds grew old and soon held little sway. A younger generation, some yearning for war and glory, rose up and took hold.

The collapse started with the death of Nunally the Compassionate, the last of the major political figures who could remember the rule of her brother. Zero had long since dissapeared, when Nunally was about fifty. Most assumed he died, and with him died most of the drive behind the peace keepers. Nunally was the last one to hold out for peace.

Within a few decades of her death, peace was all but forgotten as countries began to remake their weapons. It was slow, and Nightmares never made it back onto the field, but the century since war allowed for newer technology to make equally new and more dangerous weapons.

Another World War, a thing feared before Lelouch's rule, finally came to be. It was apocalyptic in power and most of the world's resources were exhausted. The final battle in the war was the clash between New Britannia's Royal Marines and Royal Air Service and the joined forces of the German Luftwaffe and Britain's Corps of Marines.

It was in this battle the New Britannians deployed the Strategic Heavy Explosive Ordinance Launcher (The S.H.E.O.L.). This was a cannon that was the first weapon to try and imitate the power and explosive capabilities of the pre-Peace Era F.L.E.I.J.A. and this cannon was the New Britannia's Ace.

It would have destroyed the British and German forces if it wasn't for the Germans managing to secretly smuggle out the F.L.E.I.J.A. Eliminator a month before. They, along with France and Italy's top scientists, modified it to try and stop the experimental weapon S.H.E.O.L. from working. It became the new S.H.E.O.L. Repeller.

And repel it did. Too much in fact. The machine malfunctioned due to the differences between the F.L.E.I.J.A. and the S.H.E.O.L. that the scientists did not account for. Instead of dispersing the F.L.E.I.J.A.'s energy, it instead flung it out as an EMP wave so powerful that all electronics in the world failed.

And so the world entered the new Dark Age of its history. Society barely held together and steadily deteriorated as chaos reigned. Few places survived at all. The fact any survived was a miracle.

A miracle that was brought about by an unknown man that appeared in Japan. Some rumors popped up around this miracle that made no sense. Reports of sightings of Lelouch the Demon appeared around the miracle. Others said that the miracle laid on the sight of an ancient shrine that Britannia had taken when japan was Area 11. These were mostly dismissed as fiction.

The miracle of course was a tree, a tree of Life. This saved Japan; most of it's technology was gone, but it's people lived. They reverted back to feudal society, fights breaking out between families.

Eventually, a women ate of the fruit of the tree, gaining powerful abilities. Her children were also born of these powers and soon surpassed her. Bitter and jealous, she managed to merge with the tree, intent on taking back what she considered hers.

The two brothers fought against the monster born from the fusion, the Ten-Tailed Beast, the Juubi. One of the brothers split the beast into nine smaller beasts, the Nine Tailed Beasts. The two brothers children would go on to develop into humans with powerful abilities all powered by Chakra.

In this way, Shinobi, Ninjas came into existence. Soon, almost all people in Japan, now called the Elemental Countries, had some minute level of Chakra. Two of the most powerful clans, the Senju and Uchiha, formed the first of the Hidden Villages, The Village Hidden In The Leaves. It's Japanese name was Konohagekaru, or more simply, Konoha.

Our tale picks up decades later, over fifty years later. A new threat has arisen, a group known as the Akatsuki, a group who's leader is on a quest to capture and use the power of the Nine Tailed Beasts. To do so, he must capture the Humans who have the beasts sealed inside them, the Jinchuriiki.

Unbeknownst to the world, an ancient legend still roams, and the power of Geass still haunts the planet that it nearly destroyed over a millennium ago. And so, the story continues. The Power of the King, the power known as Geass finds new life.

The Demon Emporer has returned...

"Dammit." Shikimaru's eyebrows twitched as the battle went downhill. He didn't know exactly how the Akatsuki were doing it, but they had used a jutsu to duplicate the damage caused to the member called Hidan.

The Akatsuki member stood there inside his blood circle laughing ridiculously as Shikimaru's mentor Asuma Sarutobi, grandson of the late Third Hokage, stood panting, barely able to stand after his last attack had burned both Hidan and himself.

Shikimaru was a genius, a prodigy in terms of strategy, just like his father was. But he wasn't able to figure this jutsu out. What was controlling it? How to stop both of the Akatsuki members? Hidan had claimed to be immortal and the other, Kakazu, was strong, though he was staying out of the fight... for now.

Footsteps on the dirt road distracted him and he looked away from the direction that Hidan was, to the opposite side, past Kakazu. Slowly, two shapes came into view. They were two men with straw hats covering their faces, not unlike what the Akatsuki would do.

Everyone's attention was drawn over to the two as the stopped a little ways away from the fight. They didn't run, they didn't move, they just stood there, cloaks blown about in the breeze. Kakazu watched them suspiciously, about to gruffly question them when the one left started to talk.

"Zero." Everyone watched the duo, faces still hidden under their straw hats. The one on the right looked over at the other, hand on his sword. "The opponents are Hidan and Kakazu of the Akatsuki. I'm sure you remember me telling you about Hidan's immortality and vodoo doll-esque ability."

Kakazu's eyes narrowed as the others (except Hidan, of course; he just laughed) gaped. These two knew too much to just be passerbys that had wandered in. The fact that they knew so much and were still stoic in the face of both Kakazu and Hidan was not a good sign. He gruffly told Hidan, "Careful. These two shouldn't be underestimated."

Hidan just started laughing, "What are the fuck are you talking about you damned heretic?! What are another two fucking heathens?" Kakazu mentally groaned at his partner as his attention shifted back to the two.

"Any other information your Majesty?" Royalty then? Certainly an interesting way to be traveling if they were. Perhaps they were on the run then. In that case, they may be worth a good sum of cash. If he were to get their bodies.

"Kakazu has multiple hearts. However, if you are to eliminate Hidan, he should retreat." Kakazu's eyes widened. How did they know that? Screw Hidan's stupid laughter, this was no joking matter, that was something he hadn't told anyone he didn't keep track of and trusted. "Just take Hidan's head. The rest is useless without it. Now then."

The leader of the duo raised his hand up, making a gesture towards the group with his hand, "There is just one thing left to say. Zero! I, the Demon Emperor, command you! Take them down!"

Kakazu shifted slightly, lowering his center of gravity, while his partner just kept laughing. This wasn't good. The one called Zero's thumb pushed his blade out by an inch as his other hand gripped the handle, "Yes! Your Majesty!" Then he was gone.

No seriously, the man was gone, Kakazu's eyes frantically darted about, where did he go-?! THUD "YOU BASTARD!" His head whipped around in shock as he saw Hidan fly high into the air, Zero's foot having kicked Hidan in the chest. He numbly watched, ignoring the Leaf Shinobi helping their friend who had also went flying due to Hidan's jutsu.

Zero blurred, disappearing out of view, appearing again as Hidan slowed down, sword flashing through the air, a shiny blur that flashed in and out of sight again in an instant. Hidan screamed as his body split into pieces, a leg going this way, an arm that way, his chest and head disconnecting from each other. Zero's hand reached out and grabbed Hidan's head by the hair.

With another blur, Zero was next to his boss as thuds were heard seconds later, the other pieces of Hidan's body hitting the ground, "YOU FUCKING BASTA-!" Zero stuffed a gag in Hidan's mouth, much to the other mystery's man's amusement. Kakazu's mind was racing; that whole fight had lasted a maximum of three or four seconds.

Worse, he had no idea about either of their abilities beyond the one's extreme speed and swordsmanship. And as that wasn't bad enough, the Leaf Shinobi were all intact, though still tired. But beyond that, it was now a six to one fight with two unknown, at least S possibly SSS rank men on their side. AND they knew he had five hearts.

Unfortunately for Hidan, this was a worst case scenario for him. He MIGHT be able to fight them off and take them down, he MIGHT be able to recover his idiot partner's head, but the likelihood of him being succesful was near zero. For now, he needed to retreat and tell the Leader of this development. And get a new freakin partner.

With that sorted out in his head, he promptly turned around and ran as fast as he could, much to the dismay of his partner- well, ex-partner. The Leaf Shinobi prepared to follow the man, but paused as the leader of the other two men held up his hand to stop them. "There... is no need to chase him. Especially not in your current state."

Kakazu heard the comment as he made his escape and unashamedly sighed in relief. That could have turned out much worse for him.

Shikamaru gritted his teeth in frustration. This mystery man was right. Asuma Sensei was barely standing from fatigue and they had barely managed to keep the other Akatsuki member at bay. As it was, it was more important now to find out who exactly were these two mystery men and then retreat and regroup.

Next to him, Asuma Sensei managed to groan out, "Who are you two? Why help us?" The man on the left smiled at them before motioning to the man called Zero. He nodded and went over to the pieces of the Akatsuki member's sliced up body.

"We did not help you for any specific reason besides we do not agree with the goals of the Akatsuki. It is foolishness." Zero grabbed the rest of the body after pulling out a bag. Shikimaru eyed them cautiously. He didn't want to confront these two, but taking an Akatsuki member, an immortal one at that...

He cleared his throat, "That man is wanted by Konoha. What are you doing with his body? And who are you exactly?" He was given an indulgent smile by the mystery man, who then motioned again to his partner.

"You can have the body Leaf Shinobi. We have no use for it. However, I will keep the head. It will be harder to piece him back to together without both halves- and I feel like he'll be an amusing person to have with us," The man sent a small grin of amusement down at Hidan, who was yelling loudly in anger, though he was still muffled by the gag.

He turned his head back to Shikimaru as Zero rejoined him, having laid the bag in front of the ninjas. "As for who we are, this is obviously Zero, my knight. As for myself, you may call me the Demon Emperor, or just the Emperor if you prefer." The man turned his back to the four, coat swishing around him, Zero following him.

Shikimaru watched them for a moment before turning to Asuma, "Asuma Sensei. Are you alright?" His mentor coughed for a moment, before smiling at the younger male.

"I'm great, though I could really use a light." The spiky haired teen sighed, but pulled out a cigarette from his squad leader's pocket, putting it in his mouth for him before lighting it. Asuma looked over his shoulder, "Reinforcements should be here soon."

With a sigh, Shikimaru agreed, "We'll just stabilize you for now. We might have something to help with the burns. We should just be glad that the Akatsuki didn't get any farther in slicing you up." Asuma agreed quietly- still, all Shikimaru could think of was the two men that had made defeating the criminals look like beating genin fresh out of the academy.

"The Demon Emporer? An interesting name choice Lelouch." The son of a long dead emperor smiled at his friend and companion, chuckling to himself at the comment. It really was wasn't it? More then a few centuries ago he was named that and he had hated- well, that was just it, he never really hated it.

In fact, it was a perfectly apt description of what he did, and he didn't feel particularly sorry about it either. In the end, he had secured a peaceful life for his sister, even if he couldn't share his own new found gift of longevity. Still, one would think he would feel something for all those people, yet now that it was hundreds of years later, he couldn't.

And he did have to come up with one on the spot after all. He told this to his friend who agreed, "At least I was Zero when I disappeared- even before then, when I was your knight I was still The Knight Of Zero. At least I had a code name," he muttered. Lelouch laughed.

"Well, I also come up with that one Suzaku my friend. Along with all the names of your special attacks." Lelouch began to cackle as the other male sighed next to him, Suzaku reaching underneath his hat to brush aside some hair in his eyes.

"Not a favor. Unless you consider giving me moves like 'Geass Style: Spinzaku' a favor. Which I don't, in case you haven't noticed." Lelouch snorted before throwing his arm around his friend for a bit. Suzaku just rolled his eyes.

Lelouch had changed a bit over the years, the centuries that they both had wandered. Suzaku honestly knew now why every immortal wished to die. To completely honest, they were doing pretty good mentally. C.C. hadn't lasted anywhere near as long as they had, even after she had seemingly given up wanting to die.

Humans weren't made to live forever, and though both males were immortals now, they were both humans first and foremost. It was doing things like traveling together, using their real names instead of things like "L.L." now that no one knew them; those were the little things that kept them sane.

Lelouch giggled suddenly and jumped onto Suzaku, forcing his companion to carry him in his arms. The other male groaned- still sometimes he doubted whether or not his friend was all mentally there. Lelouch had been forced to deal with a depressed C.C. for years before she managed to convince an older Suzaku to take her Code, letting her die.

Those had been a few awkward decades at first, his body being in it's late fifties while Lelouch was still in his teen body. He was so glad that the other male had managed to get him a teen body again. It helped both defending themselves as the world began to collapse, and to be honest, he would like to be young and immortal, not old.

It also helped when ever Lelouch was in one of these moods were he acted child-like. They had been slightly irritating at first- after all, Lelouch was a grown adult, but the fact of the matter was they had lived near a, possibly over, a millennium at this point. He wasn't surprised that some part of them was beginning to crack.

He didn't want to think about his own mental stability. They needed him to be alert too much for him to crack.

"Hey Suz," Suzaku looked down at his friend, whose head had been snuggled deep into the the other immortal's clothes but was now looking up at him, hat pushed off his head and hanging on his back, his purple eyes wide. "You're not leaving are you? Not like everyone else?"

Suzuka swallowed with difficulty and nodded. He was often asked this question when his friend was like this and it hurt every time. It just seemed to twist the nail of heartache ever deeper. They both had lost loved ones- Lelouch more than Suzaku, but they still had each other. That was the only thought that kept Suzaku going sometimes. "Of course I won't leave. I'll be by your side forever"

"Good!" Lelouch grinned as he hoped out of Suzaku's arms, putting his hat back up, "Now that my little indulgence is over, we need to choose where to go!" The other immortal looked at the widely grinning boy in front of him, a smile that he never had actually seen on Lelouch until they were immortal. And a bit insane.

"You mean, you don't know where we're going Lelouch?!" Cackling madly, Lelouch spun around, while Suzaku sweat-dropped. What had they done to cause this to befall them? All they wanted was to survive through the ever changing world, not have to deal with a semi-loopy Lelouch.

Lelouch shot his friend a Cheshire grin, "Oh I know exactly where we are going right now. Away from the Leaf Nin who want to ask too many questions. The question is, what after? Where do you want to travel to my eternal companion?" Suzaku was taken back by his friend's flippant attitude, but hastily answered.

"I don't know Lelouch," Suzaku pondered it for a moment. They had been wandering for years and had no house for so long, and now little money at that. "Maybe we should settle down for a bit, just a few years, get some money, then move on. We've wandered for so long, you know?"

His friend sighed, his age suddenly appearing in his eyes, "We haven't have a home for a while have we? When was the last time anyways, it was oh so long ago. I don't remember when, where or anything really..."

The immortal stopped suddenly, catching sight of Suzaku's blushing face. He blinked before his mouth split in a huge grin, "Oh you sly dog! What happened that I've forgotten, come Suz, tell me, tell me!" Suzaku waved the comment away nervously, ducking his head slightly to avoid eye contact with his grinning friend.

"It was nothing Lelouch," he mumbled, trying to avoid the subject altogether. There was a very distinct reason that he did not want Lelouch remembering that time. He just thanked whatever gods out there that they had gotten ridiculously drunk that night so his friend couldn't remember it. Suzaku quickly made a comment to redirect the conversation.

"Perhaps we should settle down in a Hidden Village? It could be interesting and a great place to make a little cash before we leave." Lelouch spun off Suzaku's shoulder before stopping and putting on his best thinking face, eyebrows scrunching together as a hand rested on his cheek. He hummed while he thought.

"Yeah... Yeah! Let's do it Suz! We can go meet some ninjas, make a shop, have some fun, stay up drinking," Suzaku's shudder went unnoticed by his friend who was off daydreaming now, "Yeah let's go! But where oh where should we go? There's Konohagekaru, Sunagagekaru-"

Suzaku stopped his friend before he went and named all the Hidden Village's full names, "Konoha would probably be best. Easiest to get in, and so long as we disguise ourselves if we ever walk about as "Zero" or the "Demon Emporer" we should be fine now that you've finished training."

At first Suzaku had to work his butt off trying to protect Lelouch, but once ninjas came about it was just no longer safe for Suzaku to be the only strong one. He had put his friend through a rigorous training regime that had raised Lelouch to about a low SS rank in power, while Suzaku was SSS, maybe SSSS if there ever was such a rating.

Lelouch perked up at that, "My trainings done now?!" Suzaku sighed before telling him no, it wasn't, it simply was safe for them to hang out in a Hidden Village now. Lelouch sulked for a moment but quickly rebounded.

"Well, let's get going! Forward! To Konohagekaru!" Suzaku let a smile grin come on his face as he followed his immortal friend through the forest, en route to Konoha.

"HMMPRGH! GRMPHMHPHRGMPH!" Ah hell, he had forgotten about the head. What was he supposed to do with it?!
