Disclaimer: Nope.
Here's another drabble. I'm working on my other stories too, but this one just popped in my head. Hope you enjoy.
A Simple Game
Drabble by SVA
He ran, laughing as he looked back at her. She had a large smile on her face; laughing as well as she chased him.
The sun was bright, shining warmly down on them as they ran through the lush green fields.
He turned sharply to the left, dancing away from her grasp. She looked surprised, a pout on her lips, before laughing again.
"Can't catch me!" He yelled, teasing her by being just beyond her grasp. She stuck her tongue out at him.
"Yes I can!" She answered, and the game was on again.
"Zuko."
Both children stopped running when they saw their uncle, standing not too far from them.
He pouted, not wanting to stop playing. He knew he could outrun her. He always had.
But his uncle beckoned him, telling him he must come back inside. Sighing, he obeyed, allowing his uncle to place a hand on his shoulder and lead him away.
She watched him leave, a sad look on her face. But it was instantly replaced by a happy smile when she noticed another man standing in the shadows. "Daddy!" She cried, running to him. She noticed a small smile flicker on his face as he reached down and picked her up.
"Come, Zula." He told her as he turned and carried her in the direction opposite of where her uncle and brother were going…
(years later)
He was no longer laughing as he ran past the trees. She was no longer smiling as she chased him.
The sun was still bright, but it no longer shone as warmly down on them as it once had. Foreign trees loomed all around them as they ran.
He whirled to the left, dancing just beyond her reach. He caught sight of her surprise before it was quickly replaced by a scowl.
"You can't catch me." He snarled at her making sure to keep out of her reach. He was the faster. He had always been faster.
"Oh yes I can." She hissed back as she leapt towards him.
He fled from her, scrambling up a tree and disappearing into its leaves. She snarled up at where she thought he was and followed.
He was long gone by the time she reached for the first branch. But even so, she still chased.
Right. That was just a random drabble I came up with after I watched some little kids play a game of tag. After all, Zula was chasing Zuko in the flashback, and now she'll probably end up chasing Zuko again. Though, not for the same reasons, I'm sure.
