A British Supernatural:
Disclaimer: I neither own any characters of Supernatural or Harry Potter. While a huge fan of each, this is merely a work inspired by both the minds of J.K. Rowling and Erick Kripke.
Author's Note: This is my first Fanfic. The more ratings and comments I get, the more it can be improved in later chapters and re-drafts to improve. All input is greatly appreciated!
Prologue
Castiel stood over the pot ready to finish the spell. Balthazar was one of the last people he would ever want to talk to and vice versa, especially since their last encounter with each other had ended with the latter's untimely demise. However, if these rumors had any basis in fact, it could destroy everything that Sam and Dean had worked so hard to work for. That Crowley was in the heart of the matter made things even more disturbing, and he had to act fast.
He lit the match and threw it into the bowl. This spell was unusually difficult. It was one thing to summon a fellow angel; that the angel was dead several years now made it more complex. However, he had already made sure that it was perfect, and even tested it by resurrecting Gabriel. The waiting, however, was always nerve-racking.
Finally, the angel appeared. Balthazar was clearly not happy. "Well, Brother, I admit that I never expected to see you again," he said in his usual British drawl. "Especially since you were the one who put the blade in my chest in the first place."
"I apologize for our last encounter, Balthazar. I was a desperate man, using an even more desperate ploy. In my defense, it did stop Raphael from jump-starting the Apocalypse…"
"And in doing so how many more men and women died at the hands of the leviathans? Not just humans, but even our fellows were killed by that little fiasco of yours. Then I finally am at peace, and next thing I know you have me spirited back into this world…"
"Balthazar, Believe me when I say that I would not have brought you back if I didn't have to. But news has reached me here and we may face an even greater threat than the leviathans and the Apocalypse combined. Brittan is more your stomping grounds than mine, and if these rumors are true, then it could mean the end of everything. Heaven, Hell, even your place of solitude would be leveled. I don't like seeing you anymore than you do me, especially since you first turned on me. But we have much bigger problems. If you like, we can continue trying to kill each other after."
Balthazar shook his head. "I highly doubt that anything could be that devastating. Your pets were able to take out the leviathans I take it. You all survived the Apocalypse. You have even stopped your favorite pet from his demon ways. Compared to that, whatever you are suggesting shouldn't be more than child's play. Never the less…" He put his hand on Castiel's forehead to read his memories.
A few moments passed, but to Castiel it felt like hours. Balthazar clearly wasn't enjoying the exchange either; while he was his usual cool and collected self at first, in no time at all he was clearly as shaken up as Cas. Finally he let go and immediately poured himself a glass of brandy.
"So you really think Crowley brought him back huh? And he and Crowley working together?"
"To an extent yes. I suspect that he has his own plans as well, and simply is keeping Crowley out of the loop until he can't be stopped. The entire wizarding community still is afraid to even mention his name. If he has banded with Crowley, and also intends to free…"
Balthazar nodded. "You are right of course. It would throw a wrench in the works that even Death himself would have a hard time dealing with, assuming he even took an interest in it."
Cas grimaced. "He would have to eventually. Especially since Riddle would want to make sure his return was permanent. Horcruxes didn't do it for him last time; his best bet would be to target the source itself."
Balthazar finished his glass, then sat down deep in thought. "Very well, I will help you this once, for old time's sake. But mark my words. When this is all over, you and I have some unfinished business to settle. What's the plan?"
Cas nodded. It would come down to that sooner or later, even if it was in the next life. "I need you to go to Brittan. You have contacts there, as well as a better idea of what to expect. If the rumors turn out to be true, then I need you to round up his old enemies. Send word to me, and we well find a neutral for everyone to meet and come up with a better plan. I intend to bring Sam and Dean around to the idea of good witches and wizards, as well as bring in some reinforcements. I have some ideas for both our teams…"
