HI! Thanks for clicking my link!

This is a Chloe-centric fic, so she's the main focus, but some of it will be focused on Clark, Lex, and the relationships formed between the three of them. This is just a little teaser chapter, don't worry, it'll get more interesting.

It is rated PG-13, and will not go above.

Disclamer: I do not own Smallville or any of its' extremely amusing characters.

At first there was only fire.

It engulfed everything, devoured the house and her father and even her, blazing heat and burning pain assaulting her senses. She struggled to understand, to comprehend how her body was tossed from side to side, how she landed on the burning remnants of a kitchen, the pile of debris that covered her, but all she could see was the flames- flames everywhere.

Second there was the quiet.

The heat died slowly, leaving only a smoking pile of rubble. The clear blue sky shone over her head and a gentle wind played across her face. She sat for minutes, or hours, she couldn't be sure, slipping in and out of conciseness, listening to the quiet, watching the smoke curl into the beautiful blue above her.

The noise began next, a wail of sirens jolting her from her half-sleep.

There was the hiss of water, snuffing out any remnants of flame that still lingered among the ruined house, and the screech of wheels as more cars pulled in around the house. The hiss of voices added to the mix, voices, all around her, everywhere. She strained her ears to try and pick up the words, but could not make them out. She could vaguely see the outlines of bodies picking their way through the wreckage, but she was to weak to call out to them.

Help me. She thought desperately. Help me.

A cloud was starting to creep over her brain, making her thoughts hazy and her eyes droop. She tried to fight it the haze and make her thoughts clear, but it was impossible. The people around her were getting closer, but she couldn't see their faces. Was she what they were talking about? She began to fade again. For a minute, she thought she saw him standing over her, a worried expression on his face.

"Lex..." She murmured, her eyes fluttering.

Then, last of all, came the darkness.
