Oh gosh, yay, guess the insomnia really pays off, eh? (:
Thank you to all who've expressed interest in taking part in my ff challenge! :D For those of you who STILL don't know what it is, please head on down to my profile page and check it out. (:
Don't expect those 1k++ word angsty oneshots for a long while; I don't have the right mood to pen that kinda stuff at the moment, and it's unlikely that I will in the near future.
I'm experimenting with another style this time round. I think I did something similiar to this for Broken, with the bracketed italics, but the effect is kinda different, IMO.
Shan't waste your time by making this A/N too long, so just read, review, and enjoy. (:
The beginning of a journey that has yet to be written
the outcome of which has already been determined
He was there when she stood at the side of the dock, holding her back as she tried to lean out way past the railing. Her tears and insecurities were split out, the wind sweeping them towards the grand unknown, as her hand grabbed the empty space in front of her, like she was trying to pull them back in, along with him. Just like the sky that ushered him out of the Ellinian harbour, everything was perfectly clear, but she was just that obstinate.
And so,
doesn't it pain you
He was with her as she made her little steps up the ladder; as she progressed in skill and maturity, so did his affection. He knew who it was that she was actually training so hard for, but still he held on to her every step of the way; he was just that obstinate.
to see her like that
embracing the hurt and pain
of the world
on her own?
He was the one who comforted her while she cried, pouring out her sorrow and hurt to him. He couldn't care less about what she feared-for it was always about him- all he could care about was her. He felt her pain; all of it, for it burnt him with every single bit of its existence. Yet, it was his lifeblood, and he was the only one who was able to enjoy it. She knew, of course, but she was just that obstinate.
Alas, you can do nothing
but watch on,
helplessly
from outside the gates
He was there when he finally returned, that uncertain chapter finally complete. She pushed aside the fears she had clutched on to so dearly, the hurt he had caused by his absence and returned to his side, oh so willingly, eager to once again mark her place in the next unfolding chapter of his life. With such ease she disregarded him, but no, he wouldn't disappear from her life; he was just that obstinate.
as you hold on to her hand
watching it slip out of your grasp
and into another's
now
He was the only one who received a present from him; a thank you present, he had said. This small gesture of thought reeled her in all the more, though it wasn't much, just a small piece of parchment. He crushed it up, the words of the great Sharenian poets rendered insignificant, the same fate that he would meet, soon enough. He'd show them; he was just that obstinate.
doesn't it pain you?
-points to the cookie jar- :D
