The Doctor hated rewinds. He didn't like reliving the pain. But he knew that if he continued with it that he would soon see her. And that's all it took for him to continue. As he stood up he gave little Amelia Pond one last look before everything rewound around him and suddenly he was standing in front of the Powell Estates. He looked up and there she was. Rose Tyler, the one and only. He walked up to her, the snow crunching beneath his feet.

He remembered exactly what was going through his past self's mind. The longing of wanting to just go inside and stay with her forever, the jealousy over his human meta-crisis getting to do juts that. He halted right next to her, he could smell her perfume. She was so very, Rose. Oh, how he'd missed her.

He had saved Rose for last during his 'reward'. He wanted the last thing he saw as his tenth self to be his last. He saved the most important thing for last. It seemed his tenth regeneration was made just for her. His whole existence as his tenth self revolved around her in some way. She was what made him keep fighting, the thought of maybe someday seeing her again made him continue on with his journey.

Coming to see her last had made things come full circle. The end of The Doctor and Rose Tyler. When he became a new man he tried to put the past behind him and focus on what was going on right then and there. But even though he didn't speak about her didn't mean he doesn't think about her. When Amy kissed him she was all he could think about. Just like he had explained to Rose all that time ago, he's always the same man.

"Rose..." he whisper softly. Her head whipped in his direction, eyes wide and confused, she shook her head and turned back to his past self.

"Blimey! How much had you had?" she asked chuckling slighty.

"Well."

"2005, January the first."

"2005?" She nods, "Tell you what, I bet you're gonna have a really great year." And what a brilliant year it was. They had the absolute best of times. She made him who he was today, she helped him be more passionate, see the best in people until he knew better. She was the best thing that had ever happened to him.

Rose Tyler, Defender of Earth. How he loved. He regretted not telling her that more than anything. He should of told her a long time ago, before he became the "New, New Doctor". But at least she had him, kind of. He looked at her smile and run off. His Rose. As the door shut he saw the crack.

He'd had enough repeating and if she was the first and last thing his past self had seen, she could be the last thing he sees now if he never comes back from this.

Rose Tyler and him, forever together in the heart.
