PREFACE – Origin of the Void
Boundless dimensions cascade across reality. Since the dawn of time, such dimensions have been the staple of existence, the balance that separates chaos from order. Should one dimension break the plane of another, chaos would reign, and the whole of existence would be threatened.
Thus, the Void was created.
The boundary between the dimensions is a place where nothingness reigns. Dark and endless, the power of the Void is the power to destroy. Hence, it is the balance of existence within the dimensions, turning chaos into order.
The Void is guarded by a group of dwarf-mages known as the Keepers.
* * *
The Keepers were assembled by a dwarf-mage known as Thad, born of the Goddess Albara, within the plane of reality known as Nassera, where powerful stones capable of opening portals into the Void for travel between the dimensions were discovered. These stones are mined and controlled by the dwarf-mages themselves, granting long life and great wisdom.
Their greatest enemy, a Dreamwalker named Rancor, born of the Realm of Fire.
Rancor feeds off of the wealth of worlds, thriving in their sorrow. He is a slave master, invading the minds of his victims and forcing them to do his bidding. Oft times, the victims do not realize they have been taken, believing their actions to be of their own free will. It is said that he was born at the dawn of time, though the truth of this is known.
True power lies within the Albara Temple, in the city of Dubane on Nassera, in the guise of the Gem of Ages.
It is through this crimson crystal, the mystical stone used to seal the Void away from the plane of existence, that Rancor can spread the hate and destruction of the Realm of Fire upon the whole of existence.
Unless someone can stop him...
