A far off memory, that's like a scattered dream…

A scattered dream that's like a far off memory,

I want to line the pieces up.

Yours…

And mine….

"Roxas…"

"Naminé!" I woke up in a cold sweat, yelling her name. 'Cause that's all I know of her is a name. And that she needs me.

I stretched out on my bed, trying to savor the last few seconds of sleep. Pretty soon my alarm went off, blasting the irritating sounds of the radio.

I weakly got up, cutting off the noise. I wondered why it went off, and then it hit me.

Today was the first day of school.

I panicked a bit before taking a deep breath, no big. It's just like every other useless year. Every other useless, and mind numbing year. Hooray.

I finished my morning routine and took off on my board towards the epitome of teenage angst. High School.

I rode up to the campus, blasting out my music,

"Hey Roxas! Heads up!" I turned towards the new noise to find something flying at my face. Pain flash through where the thing made contact. Pain was the first thing that flashed through my mind, then just black.

"Roxas…" It feels like I'm drowning. And I can't see anything. What's this feeling in my chest, and why is it pulling me under?

I grit my teeth and try to swim toward where I feel is up, but it's hard, and I'm losing more and more air. The harder I try, the more I can see a light above me. I will my body forward, and the darkness swallows me.

"Wake up." I hear a voice, but it's not a voice, like it's inside of my mind,

"Did you hear me? Get up, we have work to do." I hesitantly get off of the ground, noticing that I'm standing on what seems like a giant stained glass window.

"Where are you?" I ask hesitantly to the voice, my mind reeling with fear.

The voice replied, "I'm here, with you." It said, a hint of irritation in his tone. "I am you, Roxas, and You are me."

"What does that even mean?'

"It means we are one. So you're going to have to stop being a little bitch and deal with it."

His choice of words angered me. "Just who do you think you are?"

As I said this, I felt something hard push me from behind.

"Weak." The voice said, I got up and looked in the direction of the push.

It was an extremely dark figure, seemingly made of shadow, but his eyes glowed like moons. He had hair that jutted out all over the place and a body shaped similar to mine, maybe a little younger.

"I am weak because you are weak." The voice echoed through my head, though it was clear where it was coming from. "If we remain weak, then we will cease to exist."

"What do you mean?" I asked in bewilderment,

"I can't tell you that now, for you will awaken soon. But you must be strong if you want to survive." The figure dissapated and I felt the pain in my head again.

"Aagh!" My eyes snapped open and the florecent lights of the nurse's office filled my vision.

"Roxas! You're alive!" A husky voice said from beside me. As myeyesight started to clear, I noticed it was Riku by his silver hair. "You really gave me a scare there." He smiled. I couldn't help but return the gesture.

"What happened?" I got off of the cot that I had veen lying on.

"Ariel wanted me to give you this, so I delivered it for her." He held up a reasonable sized box. "What's so important that the Princess is talking to you for?"

"It's not like that, me and her go back." I opened the box charily, inside was a note that said, 'Be Safe...' and a steel bar. "Wonder what that means?"

"I don't know," Riku said, shrugging, "But you should really go to class now."

I sighed because I knew that he was right. I walked out of the room and to my classes that filled my day.
