The dark clouds brought soft flakes of snow to the land. Creating a nice thick layer of white in the fields near the Bunker. It was peaceful and the city near by had twinkling lights that exaggerated the falling flakes.
It was supposed to pick up around midnight. Supposed to be a hell storm actually. But right now? Right now it was soft. And quite. And all noise that could be heard was dulled by the beauty of the first snow of winter.
He watched with a soft smile. His green eyes tracking flakes as they fell before closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. He loved the snow. It meant no jobs. It meant hot cocoa by the fireplace. It meant they could take a break. It meant he could cook. It meant peace.
And now he had a home to experience the snow with. It was nice. Really frigging nice.
"What is he doing?" Cas asked standing in the garage door as Sam sipped cocoa that Dean had made before stepping outside. They both watched the older Winchester, Cas with confusion, Sam with amusement.
"He likes the snow." Sam said with a shrug.
"But won't he get cold?" Cas asked worried.
"Eventually." Sam shrugged before turning on his heel. "Just leave him be. I found out a long time ago he is better to be left alone when he gets like this."
Cas watched Sam leave before going back to Dean. He walked out to the other and stood next to him with absolute confusion.
"Just breath." Dean muttered not opening his eyes. A smile rested on his face as he tilted his head back slightly.
Cas frowned but looked out across the way and breathed. The cold air filled his lungs with a pleasant sigh he released it once more. Calm flowed through him and he just stood their. He liked this. He eventually opened his eyes not realizing he had closed them.
"Its nice." Cas said and Dean nodded his head opening his eyes.
"Ya." Dean hummed his approval and looked out to the snowy fields next to the bunker.
Cas looked up at Dean and just saw peace envelope the other's face. It was nice to see it and made Dean look 10 years younger. He liked that Dean appreciated the small things in life and that a snowy night was something that Dean got worked up about so much that he risked being super cold in order to enjoy it
"What?" Dean asked looking to Cas with a soft smile.
"Just admiring." Cas said with a replying smile.
"The snow is out there." Dean said gesturing in front of him.
"Not the snow." Cas said shaking his head. "You."
Dean blushed and looked away. "Im nothing special. The snow is better to look at."
"Not from this view. I like that you appreciated the little things even though the work has been crashing around you for years. It's just nice to see." Cas replied nudging Dean carefully. The blush went heavier and Dean coughed before turning around.
"Better get in. The weather is supposed to pick up soon."
Thanks for reading! It was just a cute little thing I thought of and thought I would write it down! Comment and like if you enjoyed it!
