Jackalope Sight-Seeing

Ginny and Luna walked silently along the edge of the Forbidden Forest. A little distance behind them Harry and Ron whispered back and forth to each other. It had been Luna's idea to take the walk and while Ginny had readily agreed to accompanying her, the pair behind them were entirely against going anywhere with the Ravenclaw girl. Ginny threaten to beat them both with a bludger if they didn't and with a lot of reluctance, they finally agreed. Whatever they now were whispering about behind the girls was surely rude and best not overheard by the two girls.

"Oy, what's the point of this again?" Ron suddenly called out to the girls.

Without breaking stride, and seemly speaking more to the redhead at her side, then the one behind her, Luna smiled as she spoke. "We're looking for jackalopes. A very good tip came into The Quibbler about a family of them living in this area."

"Jackaloops? What the bloody hell is that?" Harry asked.

Rolling her eyes, Ginny glanced over her shoulder. "They resemble rabbits but they have antlers. And it's 'Jackalopes' not 'Jackaloops'"

"Oh." Harry said, then turned his to whisper to Ron who broke out into choked laughter.

Ginny sighed and turned to Luna and loudly said, "Boys! They're so stupid."

The blonde smiled in silent amusement, before suddenly stopping and pointing past Ginny. "There! I saw one!" She exclaimed excitedly, grabbing her friend's hand and winking. The boys turned to where Luna had pointed, while Ginny smirked at the blonde. She pulled Luna into a gentle kiss before pulling away slightly. "See? I told you they were stupid."

"Even I know there is no such thing as jackalopes." Luna whispered, giggling and kissing Ginny again as the boys continued scanning the forest for a jackalope.
