A Fishing Trip
Holding my rod in my hand,
I patiently wait for the catch,
Wondering about what I'll land,
And hoping I'll be in for a match!
I wanted to catch the giant squid,
But instead, what did I find?
Something I'd rather get rid,
For it was an item of the gross kind.
I have not yet caught a fish,
And it is rather discomforting.
All I want is my one little wish,
To actually catch a living thing.
I just catch the same old stuff.
A sandal here and a shoe there.
Why, I even caught a bit of fluff!
I'm starting to wonder if the lake is bare.
Then I looked down into the lake,
And slapped myself for not thinking straight.
You see, I realised, with a headache,
That I forgot one simple thing; the bait!
