Hello...I'm super new at this whole fanfiction thing, and this is my first piece of writing, so if you could go easy. I really love Jim Kirk (and Chris Pine!), and thought it would be kind of cool to write something. I'm super nervous, so if you have any tips, reviews or concerns, please do whatever you do. Hope you like it...so I can have motivation to continue.
Jim Kirk woke up happy. He had been having a great week, had went out for drinks last night, and had slept well, meaning no nightmares had been present. He was so content and satisfied that he didn't realize something on the Enterprise was off. He just went about getting ready like any other day, expecting the day to be just as the ones he'd been having before. How could anything go wrong? He was the James T. Kirk after all.
That was why, when he started walking to the mess hall to go to breakfast, he was quite surprised. Where was everyone? The crew, who usually buzzed around the ship like bees at this time in the morning, seemed to be missing. As he walked down the hall, his footsteps made eerie echoes, and he could hear each breath.
But Jim, ever the optimist, assumed it was all just one big prank. Knowing McCoy wouldn't be in the mess hall where he usually was, he headed to the med bay, assuming his friend would be hiding out in his office.
But McCoy wasn't there. And Spock wasn't in his quarters, or at the bridge, and Scotty wasn't at engineering. Sulu, Uhura and Chekov were missing as well. And as Jim searched for each one of them, the feeling of dread spread in his gut, threatening to consume him then and there. But he knew better than to allow it. He was Jim Kirk. And his crew was his family. And no one took his family away. Even if that meant he had to give his life for theirs.
McCoy woke up with a headache. And upside down. Neither of which he liked. As he opened his eyes, they widened at what he saw. What seemed to be a cavern in which the floor had been replaced be a bottomless pit. The rock walls oozed with glowing slime that seemed to cover everything, including McCoy, and illuminated the cave in an ominous green light. McCoy hung from what seemed to be a hardened version of the slime, and as he looked around he saw what looked to be every member of the Enterprise hanging from the ceiling, including all the Bridge officers.
McCoy closed his eyes briefly. How could this be happening? One minute he had been peacefully falling asleep, the next he's waking up hanging from the ceiling. As he looks around for Jim, McCoy spots Spock, who seems to be aware and awake, but doing nothing to try to change the situation in which everyone was stuck in.
"Hey! Hobgoblin!" He yells, hoping he and the Vulcan may be able to problem solve. Unfortunately, his calls go unanswered. So he tries again. "Hey, you pointy eared bastard! Any idea why I'm hanging upside down over a bottomless pit?!"
At that he got a reaction. Spock slowly turned his head to McCoy and answered, "Unfortunately, I have true answer as to how we got here, but I do have some theories, none of which can be supported by evidence."
"Oh, well that's very helpful." The doctor replied sarcastically. Then he realized something. Where was Jim? During his scan he had identified all of the officers except the captain. "Hey, Spock, have you seen Jim?"
"I have not seen the captain among the crew members. It appears he is the only one not within the cavern."
McCoy thought about it. They were stuck upside down in a foreign environment with no captain and no way out. And just as he realized how dire the situation was, something started crawling up the walls from inside the pit. Something unpleasant.
"Why?" McCoy said as he watched the army of spiders crawl up the walls. "Why is it always us?"
Hope you liked it...if you have any concerns, comments, reviews or advice, it would be highly appreciated :)
