Michael

I woke with a start. The sound of hooves filled my ears and every step seemed to shake the ground I was sitting on. I opened my eyes to look around but everything was fuzzy. I could make out five figures surrounding me. As my vision cleared I noticed that we were on a carriage and only three of the men were unfamiliar to me however, the other two I could recognise as Mollie and James. Two of my closest friends. Although I could recognise them, they seemed different. Mollie seemed to be taller, slimmer and her ears seemed to have a sharp point on it. Her skin also had a yellowish glow that seemed…inhuman. James' changes were more subtle, he just seems slightly more grown up – as if he were 25 as opposed to 15. "Hey, you. You're finally awake." The man directly in front of me said. "You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there." He nodded to one of the men at the end of the wagon. The two began arguing about these imperials and storm cloaks. Terms that were unfamiliar to me. Listening to the conversation, it seems as though were going to 'Sovngarde' which I think is some form of afterlife. Neither Mollie nor James have spoken but their wide eyes and clenched teeth show that they, too, are afraid of what's about to happen.

The carriage came to a halt and we are instructed to get off the wagon. I came off last and a list of names s read out. "Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm. Ralof of Riverwood. Lokir of Rorikstead." As he said the last name, the other prisoner started to panic. "You're not gonna kill me he shouted." He ran past the two soldiers and started down the road we came up in. He ran maybe 20 metres when the archers got him, 3 arrows in the back and he was down. "Anyone else, feel like running" the captain asked. "Wait a minute" the other soldier asked. "You three" he pointed at us. "Who, are you?" It was at this point that I realised I didn't know who I was. I knew my name, Mollie and James' names but other than that. I had no memory of where I come from or any other friend aside the two beside me. "Prisoner, speak." Commanded the captain. "Michael. My name is Michael." I say. "And the other two?" said the soldier. "Mollie and James, sir." "I'm no sir, Redguard" he replied slowly. "What should we do captain? They're not on the List" he directed to the captain. "A Redguard, Breton and High-Elf travelling together?" the she pondered. "Forget the list, they go to the block." "By your orders captain" the soldier said. "I'm sorry, follow your captain and well make sure your remains are sent to you homes." Homes. I thought. I don't even know where my home is. I followed the captain and stood with the other prisoners, Mollie and James behind me. A woman started to chant what I heard were our last rites when one of the prisoners interrupted "Enough of this" and walked straight to the executioner and knelt in front of the block. "The gods are smiling on me, imperials" he said right before he was decapitated. I stared at the blank body when a roar echoed through the sky. "What was that" one of the soldiers questioned. "Nothing" said the captain. "Bring the Redguard next" she pointed at me. I walked to the block.
