Secret No More
An enchanted moment and it sees me through
Charlie never really had a secret before. Growing up in a house with five brothers and a sister made it impossible for anything to stay secret long. Especially when everyone in the Burrow were snoops and always trying to discover all of the secrets.
And it was a new thing, knowing he had something that no one else knew he had.
As he laid in bed and stared at the peaceful face of his secret lover, Charlie felt his heart pound with sheer happiness and contentment. They were both so active, and it was rare that had any downtime and it was even rarer that they had time to actually spend together. They had to find time to get away from their families and friends, and both of those times had to match up with each other. It was a feat.
Charlie knew to cherish the moment. To cherish all of the moments they were able to have. It was what got him through the long days alone, knowing that he'd have these enchanted moments when he could get them. And he knew Draco worked just as hard to find his patches of time as well.
He pressed a kiss to the pale cheek and grey eyes fluttered open. The face was pensive.
Charlie's heart almost stuttered to a stop. Pensiveness wasn't a good look to have. "Is everything okay?"
"There's something I want to say but… I'm afraid of how you'll react."
Charlie sat up and rested his back against the bed's headboard. "Answer one question for me. Are you cheating on me?"
Draco quickly sat up with an offended look on his face. "Of course not. How could you even think that?"
Charlie allowed a small smile to appear on his face. "Then no matter what you have to say, we'll be okay. If something is bothering you, then you need to tell me so we can fix it."
Draco took a deep breath. "Okay, if that's the way you feel..."
Charlie waited for a minute, but when no words were forthcoming, he urged with a "Well?"
"This thing we started... I know we decided to keep it a secret, but I thought it was only to see if it would last without fizzling out. We've been together for almost a year now, though."
Charlie cupped Draco's cheek. "It's been a great year."
"It has been," Draco agreed, nodding and breaking Charlie's hold on his face. "I was just wondering when we could stop keeping it a secret. I'm tired of lying and sneaking around, and if we were out in the open, we could probably spend a lot of more time together."
Charlie stared at his blanket-covered lap. "I have to admit that I like having you all to myself, and I'm sure my family will have very loud opinions about you and me. And your family—"
"I don't care what my family thinks," Draco interrupted. "I just want us to no longer be a secret."
Charlie kissed him lightly on the lips. "If that's what you want, then that's what it shall be. Tomorrow, we'll officially go public."
Draco smiled widely and straddled Charlie's lap. "In that case, are you ready for round three?"
Charlie's felt himself start to harden. "With you? I'm always ready."
