inspired by "Where I'm From" by George Ella Lyon.
I am from my friends, both human and Pokémon,
and everything they bring into me.
I am from memories made and paths forged,
that either bring tears to my eyes, or make me want to dance.
I am from getting my first PokéDex,
and knowing all the responsibilities it carried.
I am from breaking my arms and relying on my legs and feet instead,
whether it be to catch a new Pokémon, or punish a misbehaving friend of mine.
I am from living with only my mother, her love, and her care,
as eccentric as she may seem.
I am from years that passed with me wondering if Dad was ever coming back,
then finally sobbing as I figured he wasn't.
I am from my Pokémon,
all the effort they give me and have.
I am from every single moment with my own team,
and every new one I capture for my job.
I am from the red flashes of light emerging from a new PokéBall,
and the white light I see when that new friend comes to play or train.
I am from my Seniors Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow,
to Gold and Silver, my best friends through thick and thin.
I am from learning from my seniors' past mistakes and successes,
and both of which I make on my own as well.
I am from the darkness that is Silver's outward personality,
but also how he really does have a heart inside that is just the same.
I am from Gold's pranks, jokes, kisses, teasing, jabs, and moans of pain
when he says the wrong thing.
I am from all my hard work at the lab with Green and the professors,
from the pride at giving important speeches and turning in perfect essays,
I am from the sweet smile that takes over my face when I realize
how much blood, sweat, tears, and love I've put into my work.
I am from all these moments,
strung together on a chain called life.
And I have yet to see what that last bead will be.
