Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

As anyone knows, seventh year is the year when things change. Some people go through bigger changes than others; a few of these transformations from teenager to adult are painful. Others simply require some getting used to. Things are about to change for a certain boy with messy black hair, round glasses and a scar splashed across his forehead.

Harry Potter is sitting on his bed in his dormitory, serenely pondering his past. He thinks of the parents he never really had, of the people he has lost. He also thinks of his past relationships. None of which worked out. It is while he is in this apathetic mood that an idea pops into his head! He recalls a potion he overheard some Slytherins talking about on the train, one they said would solve all relationship problems. He is not the type of boy to try something so rash, but he is feeling particularly bold and daring right now. All he wants is to be happy. He had been happy at one time with Cho and Ginny; he wants someone to cheer him up. Someone to help him forget his duel with Voldemort.

Quietly, he fetches his invisibility cloak and sneaks out of the Gryffindor common room. The happy voices of dozens of Gryffindors follow him out of the portrait hole. Their sound stiffens his resolve. He doesn't want to be a morose angst wet blanket anymore. With a little help from this potion, he knows things will get back to normal. Or, at least, he hopes so.

After a quick stop at the library for the needed potions book, Harry steals into the potions cupboard to fetch some materials he knows Snape would never give him permission to use. He is pleased to find that all of the needed ingredients are there.

He checks that the coast is clear before walking back to his bedchambers. Once behind the safety of his bed curtains, Harry sets up his cauldron and gets to work. It isn't a particularly complicated potion to brew, but it still takes him six tries to get it right. When he finally does, the substance within his cauldron is a fiery red.

Pulling a goblet out of thin air, Harry pours himself a generous amount of potion and gulps it down. For a moment, nothing happens.

He then starts to shake uncontrollably as his eyes begin to expand. He runs to the mirror on inside of his closet door and watches as his eyes turn purple. Then BAM! He looks like himself again, but boy does he feel different! He looks around as he hears a door open. In walks Ron, who seems to be glowing with an angel's touch.

Ron notices Harry's relentless staring, and looks questioningly at him. Wordlessly, Harry holds up his half empty goblet and motions for Ron to drink down the rest of its contents. Ron tentatively takes the goblet. Under normal circumstances, he would never have gulped down an unknown substance, but Harry is in such a strange mood, Ron doesn't want to argue. After swallowing the concoction, he looks expectantly to Harry.

"Well…?" He begins. But he gets no further as he begins to shake and his eyes turn purple and then BAM! He's back to normal. Ron looks to Harry, a strange gleam in his eye.

Ron stands there, gazing at Harry with his mouth slightly open. His mind is working furiously to comprehend the waves of sudden foreign emotion he is experiencing. Finally, Harry breaks the silence.

"I think it's a love potion… I was… feeling lonely so I…" Harry leaves his sentence hanging as he steps foreword towards Ron. He can't seem to take his eyes off of his best friend.

"Ron, did you know you're my hero?" He takes another step closer, mesmerized by Ron's eyes. He feels as though he is floating on a cloud… He is sure he hears some angelic music coming from somewhere, and he can swear a light from above is shining down on him…
