Note: so... I haven't posted anything all month but I wrote my friend a drabble so... Here ya go. I'll try and update my other fics soon. (Before u say anything this reminds me of Heart to Heart, too)
Cold
Snow is lightly starting to fall when Ace is woken up by his bed shifting.
He can hear light breathing and the occasional car in the distance despite the late hour, but sleep still has a hold on him.
When chilled skin presses against his warm freckled skin, one of his eyes opens and gets a good look at the perpetrator, who had yet to notice that Ace had woken up.
"You're cold." Ace mumbles, but throws a muscular arm over the skinny male crawling into bed with him anyways.
He feels his boyfriend who he hasn't seen in nearly five days jump a bit, but the younger male shifts once more to find a more comfortable spot in Ace's arms. "Sorry... Didn't mean to wake you."
Ace hums softly and pulls his boyfriend closer, not liking how cold the skinny young man is. Now that he's closer, Ace can see his features better in the dark room. His wide blue eyes and nose that's flushed from the cold. The scar under his left eye is partially covered by his wild black hair. He looks like he had had a long day and, knowing Luffy's schedule, Ace doesn't doubt it.
"It's okay, Lu. Glad I gotta see you... What time is it?" Ace asks as he lazily runs a hand through his boyfriends tangled locks, his eyes beginning to droop once more.
"3AM, I think... Maybe later." Luffy says, nuzzling Ace's neck with his nose.
Ace's drooping eyes open again and he looks down at his boyfriend. He knows that Luffy works late often when he has "business" trips and his narcolepsy didn't let him stay up long enough to greet his boyfriend when he came back home, but that was pushing it and then some.
"Lu, did you just get back?"
Thankfully, Luffy shakes his head. "Nah. But we went to another new place today... It was..." A loud, long yawn cut Luffy off. "...really fun; you would like it. But me and Zoro got lost and couldn't find Nami."
Ace sighs and relaxes, cuddling his boyfriend closer. "Idiot, stop making me worry so much. How far away was it?"
"But Ace, you said that's my job." Luffy replies, causing Ace to roll his eyes fondly. Half asleep or no, Luffy was always a smartass. "It... was two hours away I think? Outside of the city; near the country. But you wanna know something, Ace?"
The freckled man hums in inquiry and slowly starts playing with Luffy's hair.
The young adult giggles softly before answering, sounding content and happy. "It was really nice, but I'm glad to be back home. Missed the city, missed you."
"Oh? Does that mean I come after the city?" Ace wondered aloud, amused.
"Nah... But I met Ace here, so I love the city."
Ace blushes lightly and kisses Luffy on the cheek, just under his scar. "You're such a dork..."
"Your dork..." Luffy mumbles sleepily and really, Ace has to give him credit for staying up so late.
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Ace whispers back after he yawns. "You should sleep... I'll be here when you wake up."
"Promise?"
"I swear."
"Good... I love you."
"Love you too, Lu." Ace presses a soft kiss to his boyfriends lips.
Luffy is no longer cold against him, but rather warm. It's nice and it makes Ace easily ready to fall back asleep.
And he does. His eyes shut and his breathing calms as a comfort like no other washes over him.
Because in the morning, he'll wake up in his tiny one-room apartment in the city he loves. But most importantly, he'll wake up with his arms wrapped around the person he loves the most in the world.
