The Apple Trees
Far away in a long forgotten land
There stood twenty beautiful apple trees
In the spring the scent of the white blossoms
Could be smelled for miles
Inside each and every tree laid a crystal
The crystals of life
The crystals controlled every aspect of life
They could not be harmed by any means
For if they were they would wreak havoc on earth
But each spring when the trees blossomed
The people who lived there heard screams
The people prayed to the gods
Asking what the noise was they heard
The gods simply replied it was the voice of greed
That whenever they heard it they should listen
Listen to the pain that gripped each cry
And learn the story the cries told
The gods told them the story
Of how greed had once destroyed their beloved land
And of the destruction the crystals put forth
They were warned not to live as their ancestors
Or they would suffer the same fate
