Every morning since September, the first thing I've done in the morning is find out the news for the day. I found out rather quickly that this could usually be discovered by asking one question: What blew up today?
Okay... This is really two poems, one version for Middle Earth, one for our world today. The last few lines don't change because I don't think they need to... maybe Middle Earth and the world we live in aren't that different. Anyway, this is basically just me thinking. Brace yourself. ^_^;

What did we lose today? (Middle Earth)

What did we lose today?

Hope-
The mountain is burning
Saying
Death is coming,
Always coming-
Hope died today

What did we lose today?

Beauty-
Sweet and pure
Ripped up,
Left to drown-
In the endless ocean,
Gleaming red
Saying
Namariƫ

We're all drifters now-
Floating, gasping, drowning

The world is spinning
Too fast
Out of control
I can't hold on

The night is eating up
The stars

What did we lose today?

**************************************

What blew up today? (Modern times)

What blew up today?

Two towers-
Death
From the sky-
People are jumping
Saying
Why don't we end it all?

What blew up today?

A man-
A walking land mine-
A desperate terrorist
Saying
I'll end it all
And take you with me

We're all land mines now
Expendable

The world is spinning
Too fast
Out of control
I can' t hold on

The night is eating up
The stars

What blew up today?

************************************

Aww. Now I'm all depressed. Damn the world. Mmm... anyway... I hope you thought it was interesting, whoever you are. I'll just sit here waiting to be blown up... I'm convinced it's going to happen, now. *sigh*

Oh, and... 'Namariƫ' means 'farewell' in Quenya. If you didn't already know.
