Chapter One: Cups
Hatori's POV
"...and then 'Gure and Kyonkichi stormed out of the room, oh, and get this! Kyon still had his shoes on! Can you imagine how angry little Kyonkichi must have been!"
Ayame had been going on and on like this for probably about two hours. It might have been more though, seeing as how my watch had stopped a while back. I had fallen asleep with the phone still in his hand. As Aya hit the high volume that he used when he said imagine I had woken up and felt the sides of my head for bleeding. All I noticed was that my check was wet. I whipped the drewl away and focused on the phone call again.
As I heard Ayame's excited voice start speaking of Shigure again, I slamed the phone down on the recever. I just kind of looked at my hand for a while after that. What had come over me! Well at least I knew that I needed a pain killer for my head. God! Ayame's voice was still reverberating in my skull. And what was it saying? Gure! I couldn't stand it anymore! I angerly stood up and walked over to the kitchen of my residence on the Sohma estate. I opened the cabnet and found a cup. The cup was made by Ayame in art just the previous semester. Like all of my dishes, and wall hangings, and blankets, and socks. Yes, socks, too.
We were Freshmen in High School and Ayame was still making me things to put in my little hole of a house. But I guess I should be thankful. If I had had to buy everything, I would definatly be broke. I only had five classmates who wanted me as a tutor. The rest just leave me be; or are girls.
I opened the fridge to find that my milk had gone sour... more like solid. So the door to the fridge got closed and I made my was sleepily over to the sink.
I didn't trust the water but this would have to do for now. I wasn't awake enough to drive and I had just gotten my licence. I didn't want to risk being in an accedent. Expecially not in my brand new car.
I took my water over to the living room where I had a huge bottle of Tylonol just waiting near the phone for when Aya gets upset or overly anoying. I popped two of the large (extra strength) pills into my mouth and gulped down the water that I had gotten. I looked a little harder at which of the school made cups I had grabbed. It was the newest one. I hadn't really gotten to glare at it yet, so I figured that now was a good time.
The cup was clay and had no handle. It was painted blue with little girlly seahorses all over the place. All of Ayame's cups ended up that way. Well, all of the ones that he gave to me at least. The ones that Shigure got all had fierce looking bloodhounds on them, even though Shigure only turned into a puppy. He was all fuzy and cute.
I found myself laughing crewlly at that thought. And to think, after all the 'nice' things that Ayame had made for me, all I could manage was a clay pot pipe with a white snake winding around it. As suddenly as I had hung up the phone on Aya ( who was probably still talking to me) I felt myself falling, falling and I could feel my eyes close, and the glass of water slide from my hand.
To be continued.
