Ah, Animal Crossing fanfiction. I always knew I would one day cross into this fandom after playing the games for years on end. To start this journey in this new archive off, I'm going to give you a Nook-centric story! Enjoy, and please review, thanks! Part of it is based on a secret trick you can do in "Animal Crossing e+" (A Japan-only e-reader update of the original game.) that allows you to wake up Tom in the middle of the night so you can shop! Unfortunately, the prices will usually be more expensive than in the day. ^^"

Midnight Run
Nook rubbed his head as he huffed and puffed after the younngster, "Agh, I'm getting too old for this. I can't bounce back like I used to..." he thought. As much as his back wanted to rest on his warm, comfy bed, he was unable to do so until he could close the shop.
Out of all the villagers in town that could of chose to shop this late, why this one? He didn't need to be reminded that the kid was the fastest of them all, heck, here he was, running after him in attempt to get him to slow down.
He would never admit it out loud, but his former employee was nothing short of the epitome of annoying villagers. It's not that he hated the guy, no, no it's perfectly okay to like someone if they choose to forcefully take away an hour of your sleep just about every night.
He tried to tell him that the pots and tools he threw down would cost him a few bells, but the kid was having too much fun to listen. Which made Nook ponder why anyone would find such fun in tormenting a shopkeeper.
As he ran, he looked up at the ceiling, praying to the Great Shopkeeper in the Sky about what he had done to deserve this. Why not the Able Sisters? Why not his archenemy Redd? Heck, he would even sacrifice his own nephews Timmy and Tommy if it meant the boy would stop bugging him. He just wanted to know what cruel deed he had done to merit such torture, all he wanted since childhood was be the owner of his own store, the store that everyone would go to when they needed something. It was his dream, and after finally getting it years later, all he gets in return is customer torment?
He finally catched up with the boy after minutes of rampant pursue, after catching his breath, he looked at what the kid held in his hands.
Just a pack of seeds.
"Ah, yes, nice choice indeed...huff...huff...That'll...That'll be eighty bells please."
Following a quick transaction, the tanuki quietly escorted the little boy out. He watched tiredly as the youngster walked back to his house, and as he did, he placed his wool stocking cap back on. The one that he always wore to bed in, and as the boy was just about to disappear into the darkness of the town, Nook decided that it was best that the shopkeeper get the final laugh this time.
"Thanks much for shopping! Come again, hm?"
Nook conked out without much of a fight the second he got to his bed.
