Author's Note: Hi! Another Gokaiger fic, a much shorter one though, about Joe and Luka! You could see this as friendship between the two, but for those that 'ship them and are dying for moments, you could see this more as a Joe/Luka fic. Personally, I see the relationship between the two as close friends that understand each other…Enjoy!
It was almost midnight when Joe finished his intensive swordplay training. As he got up to the Galleon, into the living quarters, something on the table caught his sight.
"What is this?" Joe asked himself as he approached the slice of cake on the table, with the words "Happy Birthday" iced on it.
"So caught up with your training, you even forgot that today's your birthday?" he suddenly heard someone behind him.
"Luka!" Joe spun around. "Y- You…bought this cake for me?"
Luka smiled and nodded. "Only a slice though. It would be a waste if I bought one whole cake and you can't finish it."
"Wait…how did you know it was my birthday today?"
"You told me before, can't you remember?"
Joe tried his best to recall the time when he did so, sifting through the files of swordplay techniques in his memory to find the file labelled "Personal". He failed to do so, so he pretended and said, "Oh…yes. I remember."
"Of course you did not. You're lying. I know you better than you think." Luka mumbled, but not loud enough for Joe to hear.
"Well, better finish your cake soon – your birthday is ending in just a few minutes," Luka said before she turned around and walked back to the sleeping quarters. "Good night."
Joe smiled slightly, but it seemed more like a light smirk rather than a smile. "I'll have to ask the other Gokaigers tomorrow when her birthday is – she'll flip if she finds out that I forgot her birthday."
