Lara drove along the highway heading for home, she was lost in thought, come on Gallagher make your move she was tired of all the flirting all the teasing, she just wished he would ask her out already. "maybe I should make the first move" she said out loud, her brain had a different idea no, no wait for him to do it, he will do it . she knew he had tried he nearly asked her out yesterday then Chase had to come in and ruin it, then it turned into everyone going 'on the date!' she was just coming off the bend for the next highway when her phone rang. she smiled as she seen the caller.
"Hey Dean what's up?" she had the phone in between her ear and her chin.
"Hey Lara, just seen if you got home ok"
"Nearly there just on the highway, hold on a sec" she threw down the phone to move into the next lane. she pulled the phone back up "you still there?"
"Yeah listen I rang to ask do you want to ….." He was cut off by the sound of her scream, a bang then crunching of metal, "LARA!" He yelled "LARA are you ok?" she was still screaming .
Lara lay upside down in her car trapped by the folded metal that was her car. she tried to reach for her phone, she couldn't reach it, "DEAN!" She yelled "Dean I can't move I'm stuck, some guy swerved into the lane from the other side. call rescue I can't get out "she was crying "I'm stuck, the car is crushing my legs."
Dean jumped up Grabbed Chase out of his bed and pulled him out to the truck. Yelling at him to call in an accident and it was Lara. "HOLD ON LARA I'm coming just stay with me."
"I'm fine don't panic, I'll need the cutters to get out"
"I have them look Heidi and Jordan are on the way. Vince should be with you in minute just hold on. He pushed his foot down as far as it would go.
Relief washed over him when he herd Vince's voice "Lara, Lara, it's Vince can you hear me" Dean herd her respond "I got her Deano she is fine, hang up and get here safely"
Dean threw down his phone and raced to the scene, he pulled up and jumped out before the truck had even stopped. he ran towards the car Jordan and Vince were cutting away metal to get to her, Heidi lay half in and half out of the car keeping Lara calm.
Finally they had moved enough of the car to get to her, with the two extra hands it went by quick. Dean grabbed the spine board and he and Heidi slid it under her and pulled her out straight to the ambulance. Dean jumped in with her throwing the truck keys to Heidi so Chase could get home, the doors shut and they headed off.
"What were you going to ask me?" Lara was gazing at him.
"I was going to ask you out but seeing what happened I'm just gonna come out with it, life is too short. I could of lost you tonight, so I love you Lara. I have for a long time" he leaned over her rubbing her head.
"Well you took your sweet time" she laughed "I love you too Dean, now you gunna kiss me or what."!
