Haylis, an Orange Ona, was brought into her new owner's Neohome, after quickly being swept off the shop floor of her old owner. She had been surprised on how fancy it was- her old owner had only had a few well-placed pieces of furniture, in only a few rooms. Plus, the house had been in plain old Neopia Central. This house, however, had the works- crystal chandeliers, three stories, transpariglass rooms, and tons more stuff obviously only used for showing off. It was probably worth more than most Neopians make in their entire life.

Immediately after entering, a Split Acara had looked at Haylis and burst into tears. Haylis ran over and wiped the tears off the Acara's face, but that just made the Acara cry more. Haylis didn't understand. How could anybody hate an Ona?

The owner petted the Acara, who stopped crying and stuck out her tongue at the confused petpet. "There, there, Kirrah," he said, "the Ona doesn't bite. We bought her just for you, you know!"

Haylis ran off into the house, accidentally knocking over many priceless ornaments. The Acara chased after her. The house was still pretty fancy, and Haylis passed a few more Neopets- a Fire Wocky, a blue Draik. All of them, she noticed, didn't seem to take to her. The Draik had even sneered at her!

After a little while, her new owner snatched her up meanly. "That's it, Ona," he bellowed, "it's the Trading Post for you!"

After arriving on Mystery Island, her owner quickly put her up in a trade with various fruits. Haylis couldn't read the writing near her, but she knew it had some numbers in it- and a couple zeroes. Not that it did anything to comfort her.

After a week or two, Haylis was bored- and hungry. It was very tempting to eat one of the fruits beside her, but she couldn't. They were part of the trade now! However, Haylis did nibble on one. That nibbling quickly turned to biting, which turned to outright gobbling. Unfortunately for Haylis, it was that day her owner chose to check up on her.

Her owner exploded. "WHY," he yelled, "DID YOU DO THIS TO ME? YOU ATE MY TIGERSQUASH! THAT COULD'VE SOLD FOR THOUSANDS! YOU IDIOT ONA!" He slapped the trembling petpet, and added, "Maybe I'll just accept one of the newbie offers, and you'll go somewhere they can't help you! That's what you deserve!" He left, but Haylis quickly noticed that a newbie offer, in fact, had been accepted. The Ona was at the side of a new owner.

She promptly broke into tears.

Her newest owner kneeled down next to her. "What's wrong, sweetie?" they asked. "Please stop crying. I have a Shoyru who'll love you! Come on, let me introduce you to her!" Haylis stopped crying, smiled, and walked with her owner.

The Shoyru in question found her quickly. The blue dragon proudly announced, "Oh, I can't believe it! I'm Harri. What's your name? You can live with me!"

Haylis squeaked, and ran into the kitchen, where she had spotted an orange on the countertop. She quickly climbed up and started eating the orange. Harri walked over to her, and said, "You must be hungry."

Haylis extended the half-eaten orange to the Shoyru.

Harri giggled and said, "I don't need the orange, sweetie! Make yourself at home. Feel free to eat whatever you like." Haylis grinned softly in response.
