=just a tad bitter=

wouldn't it be beautiful and
romantic if one could die in war
weaving a starfilled soliloquy
so moving that the enemy
cries at your death

it would be so wonderful if
you were so important that
when you died the world collectively
mourned for you
and after that they'd make little
pieces of memorabilia
like a mug or a t-shirt
and sell them at a dollar ninety-five
a pop

it wouldn't be so great though
if you spent your whole life getting
your hands dirty
and in the end someone else stole
the show from you
so that when you die it's like
who cares
but when they die
the world weeps

no, that would suck
wouldn't it
if you burned yourself out for
people that don't even want you
to exist, for people that
keep saying you're a mistake and
that they don't really want you
and that they had nothing to do with you
and then when you died those people
would just go, whoops

it's like,
you fools I tried to save you,
you sheep, don't just follow the leader,
think for yourselves,
look at what I'm doing for you,

look at what I've done to myself for you!

but no,
when I go there won't be a
worldwide mass held,
just nothing,
just an "isn't that a shame,"

but when they die,
the whole assembly of fools
will fall all dover themselves
in phony
grief.
