*Author's Note*
Hey Everyone! Emma here! This is an assignment for English, and the first chapter, I know, has nothing to do with Castle or Beckett! But our teacher said that the first chapter had to be introductory to our character of interest. In a chapter or two, Beckett and Castle will be coming in, I promise! Please review/rate honestly, I want this story to be as good as possible, since it is for a grade! If you have any suggestions on how I can make the story better, feel free to give them to me! Thanks:)
~Emma~
She sat at home sullen, listening to the quarrel occurring downstairs. It was ironic, she thought, how specious her life was. Sometimes she wished she had just never been born. She was sick of her parents' bellicose manner.
It was now 11:30 at night, and Taylor Jacobs sat at her desk, the only provided light coming from her lamp. Every time someone spoke, it started a new argument. She was sick of hearing the back and forth buffeting. Her friends saw her as content all the time; she was a good actor. She had learned to avert her eyes, preventing her peers from seeing the veracity behind them.
As the roaring only got louder, Taylor's walls were becoming amorphous, they were crumbling. She peered over to her open window across her bedroom. It wasn't that far down, was it? She was ready to let it all go. The only thing keeping her from leaving was her own fear, which she had none of. The treatment she received was far less than what she knew she deserved, her parents' contemptuous behavior had gone on too far.
She put on her sweatshirt, and then made sure she had her locket with her. She knew that nothing she did would she later find lamentable. She was confident that what she was deciding would not result in apprehensive thoughts later on. Her indignation had lasted too long. As the chilled wind cast her hair in all directions, Taylor was sure she was ready to let go. She was ready to run: from her parents, but mostly from herself.
