This is a little gift for my dearest Axel. Happy anniversary, bud.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of these characters (sadly). Some people write fanfics based off songs, but no, not me, I do jewelry commercials. xD The song had been stuck in my head for a while, along with the idea. I hope you guys thing this fits them as well as I did. nn
Reviews make me oh so very happy and help defeat my writers block:)
It is a cool night for August.
There are slight Northernly breezes coming in through the windows, which causes the skin on Roxas's exposed arm to tingle. It then makes it's way over to his face, distorting his peaceful expression with it's feather-like hands that tickle and chill his cheeks. His covers fall off him more as he raises an arm and a hand to his face, and rubbing his eyes slowly as he drifted out of sleep.
Looking at the clock, he smiled.
12:08 AM, on August 13th.
Roxas sat up slowly, careful not wake the redhead who had his arms gently placed over him, and slid out of the bed. He looked back at Axel, taking in every detail on his gentle face as if it was the last time he would see him. Moonlight came into the room and gave his husband's face a soft glow, the tattoos under his eyes acting as little stars.
He smiled, knowing exactly what he had to do.
Walking out of the room, careful not to step on the parts that squeak, he tiptoed down the hallway. He grimaced at the fact that they had decided to sleep in his room tonight, for it was the farthest down the hallway, and all he wanted to do was get back to Axel. He would be there now, if he didn't have something more important to do, or, get.
By the time he had passed a door labeled VI, his eyes had grown accustom to the dark, and he could easily pinpoint the utility closet. Or at least that's what everyone called it, but it was really where Xemnas stored his liquor, and other goods that he didn't want anyone else to have. The Superior always kept it locked up, however, that wouldn't stop the Key of Destiny.
But Roxas wasn't in fact going in there for booze. He had hidden something there, where he knew no one would find it, saving it for this special day. He unlocked the door, grabbed the item which was hidden behind Xemnas's least favorite treat, and then steadily made his way back to his room.
When he returned, Axel was still sound asleep. A relieved sigh left Roxas's lungs as he slid back into bed, item in hand.
Axel's eyes fluttered and his cheek twitched once Roxas had gotten himself settled, lying down to face him.
He must be dreaming...
After taking another few heartbeats to admire the sleeping pyro, Roxas decided to make his move. He gingerly took Axel's left hand, looking at the wedding ring that had been adhered to his finger for a year today.
"How can I tell you..." Roxas sang in merely a whisper. "That I love you?"
With his free hand, he slid another golden ring out of the velvet pouch that he had been holding.
"I love you... I love you..."
Taking in a few shallow breaths, the blond boy slipped the second ring onto Axel's finger, so that the two were adjacent to each other.
"How can I tell you, that I'm always thinking of you?" He continued to softly sing to himself as he kissed Axel's hand before returning it to the pyro's side.
Axel began to slowly awaken now, the sound of Roxas's soft voice dancing in his ears.
"Always, thinking of you..."
"Roxas?" Axel whispered. "Why are you..." He trailed off, noticing the second ring on his finger. "Roxas..." The pyro smiled, sitting up just enough to lean over his little husband. "You remembered..."
Roxas also beamed up at him, and spoke softly before leaning up to give him a gentle kiss.
"Happy anniversary, Axe."
