My Captain

Zoro sat on deck against the mast, sleeping, well so the crew thought. Really Zoro was in a calm state of mind. If there was to be an attack Zoro would be the first one on his feet and ready to fight.
Luffy knew this, that's why he never was worried when Zoro took his afternoon naps. He knew the swordsman would be up in seconds if something were to happen.
Zoro was always one of the first to jump to the aid when one of the crew members was in danger. Let it be one of the strongest, like himself or Sanji or the weakest say Nami or Chopper, Zoro would be there.
Helping gout and protecting the crew was one of Zoro's jobs, even if it wasn't assigned by his captain. It was a brave thing to do and Luffy was proud of his first mate. It was one thing Luffy really respected Zoro for.
He never told Zoro that before of course, but he never had to. Zoro already knew. It just took one look and a touch on the shoulder form the rubber man for Zoro to figure it out.
It wasn't until after Thriller Bark, and when they were on their way again did Zoro understand that those touches to his shoulder and proud looks meant even more. That, the feelings Luffy had for him had been stronger then someone who was just a Nakama should be.
All the worry he had put his captain in, the genital hug they shared. It showed it all.
However Zoro never told Luffy what happened that day, and why the Cook had to carry his sorry ass back to the crew. No that was something he kept locked away to himself. And when Luffy asked about it, all he said was: "I just had to do something for myself."
Luffy had seemed to understand then, and left it alone.
From then on his captain had stayed close. Zoro kept an extra eye on Luffy and Luffy kept an extra eye on him.
And to say it was just because they were just Nakama would be a lie. They were more then just Nakama and that was the honest truth.
No one else on the crew knew about the gentle relationship they shared, but that was all right. No one needed to know.
"Oi Zoro! Come and play cards with us!"
Zoro opened his eyes and turned to see the smiling rubber man standing in front of him. He returned the smile and stood to his feet.
"All right, anything for my Captain."
Luffy's smile grew, and Zoro's turned to a grin. Yep they were more then Nakama and no one else needed to know.
