Busshu-san
Another Yuki one shot
By: Yami-Kaitou
Yuki crawled quietly out of the window in his room. He let his toes feel for the dirt below him. When he felt the roughness of the sand, he let go with his arms and came tumbling out of the house.
He stood up and looked around. The garden looked nicer from here than from the window and Yuki scrunched his bare toes in the dirt. No more hard wood floors for him. All his life it was those paint-streaked walks and the hard wood floors of his little room
No more was the sadness of the dreary room. No more was the evil grin of Akito. Yes, this garden would be his new home.
Yuki stepped lightly on the plot of land outside his window. He walked under a tree and stood there, letting the sunlight filter through the leaves and onto his face. It felt so good…
Yuki stepped forward and he felt something under his foot. He picked up his foot and looked at the under-side of it
Stuck there, on the heel of his foot, was a small seed. It was so little and when Yuki picked it off his foot, it nearly fell to the ground. Yuki cradled it in his hand and smiled at it. It was a seed, a seed that would grow into a little sprout and then a beautiful plant.
Yuki cuddled it as if it were a living creature. In reality, it was living. Just like him. But Akito Never respected him as a living creature, let alone a seed. To Akito, he was not a friend or a cousin. But simply a venting tool.
Thinking about it made Yuki angry. The thought of a seed having more respect than him angered him. Yuki Threw the seed to the ground and glared at it.
A wave of sadness washed over him. To the seed, he was Akito. He had taken out his anger on the seed and now, the seed was lying on the ground.
How many times had he lain on the ground in pain due to Akito's misdirected anger?
Yuki gasped and dropped to the ground looking for the seed. When he found it, he held it tightly in his hands, sheltering it, keeping it warm.
"It's okay…" said Yuki, "you're okay. You need a good home… mine's not so great…but you can come with me if you like."
The seed did nothing.
"Alright!" Yuki smiled, "then you're coming with me!"
Yuki walked over to the window and crawled back into the house. His feet had just hit the floor when the door slung open.
"Yuki!" Cried Akito
"A-Akito!" Yuki stammered. Silently thanking the gods for bringing him in at just the right time.
"Yuki, a servant girl saw you in the garden! Why did you leave this room!" Raged Akito
"I Thought-"
"Yuki…Yuki…when will you learn? When the spirit of the zodiac possesses you, you do not think for yourself. I think FOR you. I tell you what you can and can't do. I tell you where you can and can't go, and I'm telling, you cannot go into the garden. EVER."
"Yes Akito. I am sorry." Said Yuki, bowing to Akito.
"Get up you worthless Boy." Akito hit him on the shoulder and Yuki stood up, "Did you think you would get off on just a warning? Did you?"
"Well-"
"Well you won't!" Akito reached out and slapped Yuki on the face
"You cannot go outside. "
SLAP
"You cannot just do anything you like."
SLAP
"You must get my permission before you do anything."
SLAP
" Do you under stand!"
SLAP
"DO YOU?"
Yuki lay in a little heap on the floor. "Yes…" he said quietly
"Good. Now get up." Akito grinned evilly and he kicked Yuki in the side, "clean your self up before one of the servants see you."
"Yes Akito."
And with that, Akito left.
Yuki pulled himself off the ground. He walked silently over to the far corner of the room, the corner that Akito never ventured to. He used al his strength and pried up one of the floorboards. Under the board, He found a little patch of dirt under the floorboards. He buried the seed under the dirt and patted the dirt around.
That night, when the servant girl brought him his food, he saved a bit of water for the plant. He sprinkled it on the dirt. He imagined the seed under the dirt and water, it was happy.
BREAK
A few months later, the seed had blossomed into a lovely plant with pink flowers and Green leaves. Yuki had named it Busshu-san. Busshu-san was his friend.
As many times as Akito had come in the room, he had never discovered Busshu-san.
Yuki liked to talk to Busshu-san. He told Busshu how much he hated Akito. He told him how much he wanted to leave Sohma house.
One day, a few years later, his wish came true. Shigure came and took him away from Busshu-san. Away from Akito. And that was all that really mattered.
BREAK
Many years later, a servant girl stumbled upon and old room in the back of the house. She slid the door open to find the room dark and dreary. She stepped into the room. Something brushed her face and she quickly spun around. She backed out of the room and lit a candle and saw that in the room, was a tree. Its roots were growing out of the floor and it began in the back corner of the room. It had grown all around the ceiling of the room and it curled along the walls.
The girl gasped. Why was there a tree in the back room?
"It's a beautiful tree…" she said to herself, "Whoever planted it…must be long gone by now… I think I shall keep watering you. I'll call you…Busshu-san!"
